Twenty One Pilots fans are excited for September, as it seems like new music is forthcoming.
A week after they celebrated the 10-year anniversary of their massive hit album, Blurryface, the duo announced that their next full-length album, Breach, drops this September. The Grammy-winning duo took to Instagram to announce the news, revealing that their first song from their seventh album, The Contract, drops this June 12.
The Columbus natives released their most recent record, Clancy, exactly one year ago, though the exact date Breach drops in September remains unclear:
“Hello Clancy. Hello Blurryface,” they wrote on social media. “Let’s finish this.”
Based on the caption, it seems like the forthcoming project will continue the narrative that began with the pair's 2015 fourth album, Blurryface, which continued with Clancy.
Here's everything you need to know about Twenty One Pilots
Twenty One Pilots comprises Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, and it was born in 2009. The pair dropped their major label debut and commercial breakthrough back in 2013 with Vessel, which went on to peak at No. 21 on the Billboard 200.
The group's Blurryface gave them their chart-dominating title, with their subsequent records all peaking in the top three, Billboard has reported. According to The Columbus Dispatch, the 2024 album, Clancy, however, sold well over 143 million copies in the first week since it dropped, and has since amassed about 1 billion global streams.
The pair just wrapped up their massive world tour in support of Clancy, with their final two performances being delivered at London’s O2 Arena. As per Billboard, the show made headlines just recently when a fan went rogue and grabbed one of Dun's drums before trying to make a break for it.
In clips circulating online, one fan can be heard saying:
“I really don’t think you should take that,” before another adds, “Have I just witnessed a crime. Has she actually just stolen that drum? That’s crazy.”
While the unidentified fan seemingly got away with his antics, an internet-wide search hunt was executed in the hours after, which eventually culminated in Twenty One Pilots’ tour videographer, Sax, taking to Instagram to announce that the drum had since been found and returned.
The Columbus Records has reported that with the release of The Contract, fans can avail access to pre-ordering the pressing edition of the Breach on vinyl and CD.
