Taylor Swift is making strides with her new album, The Life of a Showgirl.
Parade has reported that the songstress's 12th studio album smashed the record she set last year for the most vinyl copies sold in a week in one day. She is now projected to break Adele's sales record from 2015.
The album debuted on October 3, 2025, and it sold a staggering 2.7 million physical and digital copies within a few hours, per Billboard. When Adele debuted her hit album 25 in 2015, she sold a staggering 3.378 million copies in its first week.
Although Taylor Swift has yet to dethrone the British songstress, fans are buzzing with excitement for her. Here's how one user reacted, for instance:
"Two queens who constantly support each other"
See how the rest of X is reacting:
"a reminder that Adele did this with ONE version and had millions of people buying her record, instead of having fans buy tens of copies," one fan pointed out.
"Adele did it ORGANICALLY with only one version tho," another remarked.
"At this point, Taylor could drop an album of voicemail recordings and still outsell entire genres. Insane," someone else quipped.
"Also adele didn’t do it with 200 versions," yet another noted.
The comments didn't end there:
"The economy moves more when Taylor releases than the stock market does," one fan gushed.
"4M first week is insane.... y'all can hate her music or whatever but her fame in unprecedented and unheard of," someone else remarked.
"To be fair to Adele the population has grown and so have the number of devices. Not taking away anything from Taylor tho," another noted.
"Adele did it organically and without a bunch of special editions so to me, she is still the champ," yet another chimed in.
Scores online were visibly divided, though a large chunk of them did appreciate both women's musical prowess.
