During a recent performance at London's O2 Arena, R&B singer Usher experienced a close call when his on-stage tradition of feeding cherries to fans nearly resulted in a medical emergency. The incident occurred during his "Past Present Future" tour, which celebrates his 30-year music career.
Usher has been engaging audiences with his cherry-feeding routine since his Las Vegas residency in 2022. The act reportedly began with strawberries. Now, it has turned into cherries and has become a regular one in his performances. However, during the London show, the routine did not go smoothly.
During a moment of the show, Usher approached a female fan in the front row, and he attempted to feed her cherries. The fan declined as she informed him that she was allergic.
Initially, it seems that Usher did not hear her due to the crowd's noise and tried again. After realizing her condition, he said,
"Oh s**t, you are allergic to cherries, damn! Anybody got an epipen in this b**ch?"
He then hugged the fan, apologized, and continued the show, stating,
"We almost had an emergency in here."
Notably, this is not the first time Usher's cherry-feeding has made headlines. Earlier this year, a video of him feeding cherries to a fan at another concert went viral. Additionally, during a performance at the 2025 Met Gala, Usher fed a cherry to singer Sabrina Carpenter. It saw a humorous reaction from her father.
Fan reactions to Usher's cherry incident at London's O2 Arena show
The Art of Dialogue took to its official X (formerly Twitter) page to share:
"Usher came close to feeding a fan cherries during his concert in London, until she stopped him and revealed she was allergic."
Netizens were quick to gather in the comment section as they shared their reactions. Below are some of the remarks:
"Why did he insist so much?", asked an X user.
"Inside the arena is pretty loud and she doesn't look American so he probably couldn't hear her properly", answered another.
"Literally have never heard of anyone being allergic to cherries", stated a third.
Others also chimed in:
"It's clear he couldn't hear her or understand her . Yall reading lips at an angle . Your not front and center in the moment with music and crowd noise and everyone screaming and yelling. Yall be geeked up to be so extra", penned a netizen.
"One of these days, Usher's gonna get sued for this behaviour. He does way too much in them concerts.", opined another.
"So no one's going to talk about how creepy it is but that girl got usher's name tattooed on her him and I saw that I'd be backing away", noted a third.
Usher's "Past Present Future" tour began on August 20, 2024, in Washington, D.C., and is set to conclude on December 5, 2025, in Sydney, Australia.
