Cuban singer-songwriter and actress, Gloria María Milagrosa Estefan, popularly known as Gloria Estefan, recently opened up about the time she shot the music video for her popular 1994 song Turn The Beat Around.
The 67-year-old musician turned actress, Estefan, appeared on the August 26 episode of Songs & Stories with Kelly Clarkson on August 26, 2025, and discussed the time she shot the music video. Interestingly, she also revealed that at the time she was pregnant with her daughter, Emily, who is now 30 years old.
Gloria Estefan, who, besides being a singer and actress, is also a businesswoman. She shares her daughter, Emily, and a son, Nayib, with her husband, Emilio Estefan, a Cuban-American film producer and musician. While talking about the filming of the music video, she also revealed during the shoot how she tried to hide the fact that she was eight months pregnant. As per People Magazine, Estefan, while talking about her album Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, said:
"I was pregnant with Emily, very pregnant when I recorded that whole album, which was songs that moved me."
Gloria Estefan recalled how they shot the music video:
"At the top of one of the tallest buildings in downtown."
She then shared how she had to use a body double, and said:
"I had a body double because I was very pregnant."
Declared by VH1 and Billboard as one of the top 100 greatest artists of all time, Gloria Estefan went ahead and continued:
"When I was recording that song, Emily would twist and turn and kick... and that's why she became a drummer probably. I was singing and she literally kicked the mic stand out of my hand."
Estefan further added:
"We had a big hit with that song."
Gloria Estefan and Kelly Clarkson collaborated and performed Mi Tierra

During the latest episode of Songs & Stories with Kelly Clarkson, Gloria Estefan and Clarkson joined forces and performed the song Mi Tierra. Kelly Clarkson said:
"I love all of your songs but this is my favorite. This is the one I'm most excited to do today. I hope I don't screw up the Spanish."
Estefan shared how the song Turn The Beat Around became such a hit. She also talked about how she was "very thrilled" about how the song eventually turned out. Estefan, during the episode, also discussed with Clarkson the significance and cultural impact of her songs.
