Chris Martin issues an apology after Toronto Rogers Stadium comment.

Coldplay's frontman has come under fire for a comment he made about Toronto's new stadium. Chris Martin made a comment, calling it a "weird stadium in the middle of nowhere," and thanking concert goers during his show for putting up with "the traffic and the travel and the trains and the waiting" to get to the venue.
Unfortunately for Chris Martin, his comment was taken as criticism by fans, which also came as a surprise, as the "Hymn for the Weekend" singer is known for his warm disposition and unproblematic presence. Martin decided to nip the issue in the bud and clarified that he never meant any criticism towards the new stadium and only wanted to thank fans for making the trek to the former Downsview Airport lands, as the stadium is situated on the outskirts.
At Friday's show, Chris Martin clarified,
"I have never criticized this stadium that was beautifully, kindly built for us to play in. I don't think to say anything mean at all. I'm so grateful to have somewhere where we can hang out with all of you."
Coldplay fans had also complained about poor crowd control at the 50,000-capacity stadium when it initially opened last month, saying it was difficult to leave even after Coldplay's first performance.
Coldplay world tour
The British pop-rock group that debuted in 1997 has been on their Music of the Spheres World Tour since 2022, making it a 3-year-long tour. It also marks their ongoing eighth concert tour and is staged to promote their ninth and tenth studio albums, Music of the Spheres (2021) and Moon Music (2024).
The tour kicked off at San José's Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica on 18 March 2022 and is scheduled to end at London's Wembley Stadium on 8 September 2025, going all across the world and creating hundreds of memorable moments and experiences. Besides the group's iconic discography and production, the tour featured notable guest stars, from K-pop girl group TWICE, Ayra Starr, Elyanna, Janelle Monáe, Maisie Peters, H.E.R., and more.
Coldplay just finished the Canadian leg of the tour as they wrapped their shows at Rogers Stadium. Chris Martin, along with his group, is heading to the US for a few more shows before wrapping their tour in London.
