What happened to Dave Edmunds? All you need to know as wife of rocker shares health update

Rock icon Dave Edmunds sustained a major health scare last month and is on his way to recovery after suffering a cardiac arrest in July. Cici Edmunds, Dave’s wife, confirmed the news when she shared a Facebook post from Carlene Carter about her husband’s condition.

Cici was sure to add her own words to the previously uploaded post,

"Bless you sweet beautiful Carlene for sharing the positive news regarding my amazing husbands miraculous recovery. Sending you much love and light your way always. Cici Edmunds.”

It continued,

"Dave is expected to make a full recovery and be out of the hospital soon!" Carter's original Facebook post read, layered over a throwback photo of herself performing with Edmunds, 81, "Some really great news we all have been waiting for..."

Thankfully, it seems that Dave Edmunds was able to persevere through the daunting experience.

Dave Edmunds’ Cardiac Arrest

Cici Edmunds also shared the news of Dave Edmunds’ cardiac episode on social media via Facebook. Her experience, as she detailed it, seems harrowing.

“Dave Edmunds. My beloved husband of 40 years has had a major cardiac arrest as I told you about in my previous post. He died in my arms while I desperately tried to keep him alive while trying to clear his airways from all of the fluids that come out of a human beings body when we pass away.”

She also wrote:

“My nurse is also on the floor right next to myself and Dave pumping away really hard performing heavy CPR.…I’m still in shock and I believe I have PTSD from the horrific experience.”

While Cici was eternally grateful that her husband Dave Edmunds stayed strong throughout the experience, she made it clear that there is still a long way to go.

“Dave will have a very long journey ahead of him if he survives. We both have. But knowing that there are kind hearted people such as you all. Makes this tremendously difficult journey a little easier. Bless you all. Sending you all much love and light and always.”

Dave Edmunds retired from music in 2017 (according to a social media post by longtime friend and collaborator Brian Setzer). The overwhelming support from family, friends, and fans has been a beacon of hope for Dave and Cici as they navigate these difficult times.
