Beyoncé is getting candid about what inspired her to launch her favorite CÉCRED product, the Clarifying Shampoo & Scalp Scrub.

The Halo songstress launched her hair care line back in February 2024, and in a new video circulating on X, she attributes her desire to start her own business to her dad, Mathew Knowles.

"One of my fondest memories, growing up, was my dad putting my medicine in my scalp," she starts the video. "It was like our little ritual, and it was so sweet for my dad to do that. This kinda gives me back those memories," she said.

She also revealed that she struggles with "very dry scalp" as a result of her psoriasis, which she has been dealing with from a very young age.

"I think people talk about healthy hair, but I think it starts with a healthy scalp," she says towards the end of the video.

Beyoncé gets candid about her inspiration for her hair care line as her stylist weighs in on what products he uses on her:

Beyoncé has been known to experiment with hairstyles over the years, throughout various concerts, performances, and music videos. Ahead of the launch of her hair care line two years ago, the legendary musician spoke to Essence about how important the brand is to her:

"I love how we associate a certain hairstyle with moments in our lives, like that short-hair moment," she said of her pixie cut. "I remember the day I decided to just cut all my hair off. I didn’t have a particular style in mind. It wasn’t an aesthetic choice, but it was a very big emotional transformation and metamorphosis that I was going through."

Beyoncé continued,

"So much of my identity as a performer has been connected to flowing hair. Cutting my hair off was me rebelling against being this woman that society thinks I’m supposed to be."

She also noted at the time that working with her mother in her hair salon growing up was also an inspirational factor, adding that she had been talking about starting her own business in the field since she was a teenager.

The "Our Story" section of the hair care company's official website reads as follows:

"IT’S BEEN MY LIFELONG DREAM TO CREATE A BRAND THAT COULD WORK FOR EVERYBODY- WHETHER YOU'RE PIN STRAIGHT, COILY, WAVY, CURLY, OR ANYTHING IN BETWEEN," Beyoncé said.

The singer, who recently wrapped up the UK leg of her Cowboy Carter tour, showcased honey blonde tresses during her high-octane performances. In her last performance in London, it was styled in a voluminous Texan blow-dry manner, showing off her waves.

Harper's Bazaar has reported that Neal Farinah can be credited for the look. The lead global stylist recently spoke to Harper's Bazaar about his inspiration for the look, touting the singer herself.

“Inspiration comes from so many places, but ultimately I’m always inspired by big, Texas hair,” he said. “I am so inspired by this show–it’s the result of so many years of hard work, and we wanted to call back to the iconic honey blonde and big body blowout Beyoncé is known for, but still nod to the Cowboy Carter blonde we’ve played with all year.” he added,
“It’s so important that the hair has body but also movement. No time for stiff bouffants here.”

Per the outlet, Farinah uses the Cécred Moisture Sealing Lotion to maintain her tresses throughout the show, alongside the Nourishing Hair Oil from the brand. He then finishes things off with Cécred's Vented Paddle Brush, which he uses during the performance to keep her hair under control.

"The relationship we have with our hair is such a deeply personal journey. From spending my childhood in my mother’s salon to my father applying oil on my scalp to treat my psoriasis — these moments have been sacred to me," Beyoncé told Essence back in February 2024.

As for how she decided on the name, the If I Were a Boy artist said:

"So I took the end of my name, Cé, and made it the beginning of the word sacred to create Cécred From my mother’s salon, daily rituals with my father, and years of experience in developing a hair care line, the journey has been just that: Cécred."

Tina Knowles, Beyoncé's mother, also spoke with Essence about her daughter's then-budding company:

“In the culture of Black folks, all the way from the beginning: If you could do some hair, you’ll never be broke,” she said at the time. “I told my kids that. My mama told me that. So it’s just our legacy, and this full-circle moment feels amazing."
