Tori Rose breaks down the emotional take on her new single ‘Back Home.’

The rising country singer, Tori Rose, recently released the heartfelt track, which reflects on her complicated feelings about her hometown. Blending honest lyrics with a melodic country sound, the song offers a glimpse into her personal journey.

Rising country singer Tori Rose has released her new single “Back Home,” and it has an emotional backstory to it. The 20-year-old is from Pennsylvania and later moved to Florida. She exclusively told PEOPLE magazine about the ‘love-hate relationship’ she has with her hometown.

“I grew up in an incredibly small town, and I believe I will always call it home, but I knew I had to leave if I wanted to be truly happy and let myself grow,” she says. “I really do believe a lot of people can relate to that feeling… I always hear songs about either loving your hometown or hating it. For me though, it was a little bit of both. I wrote ‘Back Home’ from personal experience about having a love-hate relationship with where you grew up.”

She further explains her relationship with producer Jimmy Ritchey, who helped bring her vision to life.

“Jimmy really just reads my mind when it comes to my songs. He always seems to know exactly what I want them to sound like, and I just always have always had such a fun time in the studio with him. My songs are my babies, so I just feel incredibly grateful that I get to work with Jimmy and that he understands me as an artist.”

Tori Rose, who is now based in Nashville, also expressed her grievances and struggles in the huge music industry. She spoke about the difficulty of knowing whom to trust but emphasized that, through it all, she remains true to herself.

“It can be really hard to just focus on yourself and your own music and not constantly be comparing yourself to other artists,” she stated. “That’s the biggest lesson I’ve learned, because nobody is going to make you work harder than yourself. I’ve learned to keep my head up and just do me.”

Much like most other country artists, the singer talks about finding inspiration in country greats like Carrie Underwood, Gretchen Wilson, and more. Her main aspiration in her career right now is to experiment and explore “her sound” as much as she can.

Tori Rose further added, "Creatively I just want to keep growing with my music and myself as an artist. I would love to keep exploring my sound and release an album in the future. There are so many artists I would love to collaborate with!” mentioning Gretchen Wilson, Carrie Underwood, Ella Langley or Emily Ann Roberts as her dream collaborations.

Speaking about the power of music and its ability to invoke feelings, memories and reflections, she said,

“I just hope I make my listeners feel something. Whether it’s angry, happy or sad, I just hope they feel something when they listen to my music. Just like I do when I listen to my favorite artists.”

With new talent brimming in the country music industry, fans can look forward to a range of musical themes from Tori Rose — like her fun, bar-themed song, If Drinking Was a Sport.
