Irish hip-hop trio Kneecap made waves at Coachella 2025 for making statements that accompanied their performance. The group's performance during the festival's second weekend generated notable conversation across the internet and social media platforms.

Kneecap performed in the enclosed Sonora tent with their signature mix of Irish and English lyrics, and more. However, the backdrop behind their music made headlines.

According to reports, the messages that appeared on the screen condemned Israel and U.S. foreign policy. Some of the messages were as follows:

"F*ck Israel, free Palestine."
"Israel is committing gen*cide against Palestinian people."

Kneecap's Coachella 2025 complete setlist

Kneecap delivered a high-energy performance that featured fan favorites and cuts from their latest album. As reported by Setlist FM, the full setlist from their weekend two show is as follows:

Kneecap's first appearance at Coachella was during the festival's first weekend in mid-April. The fest is held annually in Indio, California. The Sonora tent, where Kneecap played, typically hosts punk, garage, and underground acts, reports suggest. It is the smallest venue on the grounds.

During weekend one, Kneecap's set was reportedly packed with fans. The group performed mostly in darkness. Their eye logo was looming on screen. According to reports, there were brief political references during the performance, including nods to Palestine. However, there was nothing as direct as the second weekend's messages.

Moreover, Kneecap accused Coachella organizers of cutting off their livestream and censoring messages regarding Israel and Margaret Thatcher during the first weekend. The group took to social media to address the matter.

On the other hand, Deadline reports that record executive Scooter Braun took to his social media to share his thoughts regarding Kneecap's pro-Palestine messages during their Coachella set. Sharing a photo of Paul Tollett, he wrote:

"This is my friend Paul Tollett, the founder of @coachella. He is someone who lives and breathes the festival community. He fights for artists and he fights for all people. When I invited him to the opening of the Nova music exhibit in Los Angeles, he was the first person from the industry to accept. He came on his own time and spent five hours in the exhibit and then met with survivors of nova and invited them to the festival this year as his guest."

He also added:

"He cried with them, he laughed with them, and he continues to advocate for them. Let’s not lose sight of who this man is, and let us stand with him in this moment when a group, without his knowing, took advantage of his festival and created hate in a place that’s filled with love."

It seems that Kneecap's Coachella 2025 appearance will be remembered for more than their music.
