TDE Punch offers some insights into Nicki Minaj and SZA's ongoing feud.
Punch spoke to Loren Lorosa on The Breakfast Club about the Anaconda rapper's heated string of posts on social media on Tuesday night. During Wednesday's chat, Lorosa recalled what Punch said about the public spectacle:
"He said, 'Back in 2020, Nicki Minaj reached out for a SZA feature on a song.' He responded and told Nicki Minaj that SZA was in album mode heavy and that he would get it over to her and that was it. They never spoke again. Feature didn't happen, but he says he's lost after that as well."
In her tirade online, Nicki Minaj also slammed TDE Punch, originally, who is also signed to SZA's label, Top Dawg Entertainment, for allegedly "bullying me on Twitter for no reason" after she “rejected his business proposition on more than one occasion.”
"So glad I have proof of being bullied by AND being lied on by a man PUBLICLY," the rapper, 42, said on X of Terrence "Punch" Henderson. "on a platform I use for my JOB; after I rejected his business proposition on more than one occasion."
She also shared a photo of the president of the Top Dawg Entertainment label with the following caption:
“Me after I suck some good zik. Guarantee you wouldn’t fight a man. We have every tweet of your incessant bullying, lying, & more. Your name was added to that sh*t list sh*tty drawers. Same thing that make you laugh make you…sh*t.”
Nicki Minaj's beef with SZA explored:
Shortly after the Super Bass songstress ripped into TDE Punch, SZA, 35, took to X to chime in with her own cryptic tweet:
"Mercury retrograde.. don't take the bait lol silly goose."
She didn't name-drop Nicki Minaj, though upon catching wind of the tweet, the rapper replied to the tweet by noting,
"Go draw your freckles back on bookie."
She then slammed SZA's looks in a string of follow-up tweets:
"B---h looking & sounding like she got stung by a f--king bee," she wrote at one point. "Dot dot dot *Draws on my fake freckles.*"
Nicki Minaj also cast doubt on SZA's songwriting prowess and how “the music business wouldn’t even miss” her. She then compared her own career to the success that the Luther songstress has enjoyed this far:
“Wait. Does Sza think she’s more successful than me? Lol yall catch me up pls,” Nicki began. “Sza if every song you’ve ever done vanished right now the music business wouldn’t even miss you. I’ve been to countries that never heard of you. I know you’re not THAT stupid are you? Stadiums? Did you look at the venues I played on my OWN headlined FESTIVAL tour out of the country last year? B—h have you ever headlined to 80K ppl? Btch what have you ever done besides yodel with auto tune that needed retuning?”
She went on, in part:
“Boo im an icon. You’re not. The end. Pay that man for almost breaking his back. … You the type that would’ve been quiet in school trying to fit in. You still have no clue who you are!”
Nicki Minaj also referenced a string of tweets that have recently resurfaced, where SZA can seemingly be seen throwing shade at Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Ciara. According to Billboard, the tweets date back to the early 2010s.
“Btch used to be on twitter dissing Rihanna, Ci, etc.” she wrote. “Allegedly. Like b—h stop being jealous of women who you secretly would kill to be up their a— holes.” She added: “Now wanna act like you a mthfkn tarot card, b—h quit. What an odd little weirdo.”
SZA did respond to Nicki Minaj's litany of hate tweets directed in one tweet that read:
“I don’t give a f*ck bout none of that weird sh*t you popping."
She also acknowledged a fan who warned her that "the Barbz," i.e., the rapper's fan base, would launch an online attack against her.
"I get bullied by millions online every day then step my as* out onna packed stadium tour where ppl show me REAL love . IN REAL LIFE," SZA penned on X on July 15. My parents are healthy and I’m the most successful I ever been . GET SOME F--KING PERSPECTIVE n BARK AT THE WALL !!!"
Nicki Minaj doubled down on her fiery sentiments by suggesting that SZA "Shutup," adding that she was in a meeting, so she wouldn't know "if u was still talking sh*t or not so if you didn’t I’ll delete later. H*e.”
However, SZA claimed that the tweet about Mercury being in retrograde had nothing to do with the rapper before she decided to log off X peacefully:
“Lemme go back to being calm shy and meek . Yall have blessed night!”
Nicki Minaj has been going off on X as of late, as she recently also slammed both Megan Thee Stallion and Jay-Z online. She voiced her grievances with Roc Nation, under which Megan is a signee. The two have long been beefing, with either debuting diss tracks against the other.
As for her beef with Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj accused the latter of failing to pay her millions of what she's owed, alleging that Jay-Z and Roc Nation “ruined hip-hop,” “ruined touring,” and damaged social media.
