Memphis Bleek is weighing in on Tony Yayo's claims that Jay-Z doesn't look after his protégé in the way that 50 Cent does.

Bleek sat down for an appearance on Drink Champs earlier this month, where he addressed Yayo's comments about his mentor. Bleek emphasised that Jay-Z was never going to bankroll Yayo. Instead, he would have to grind to earn his fans' appreciation.

Newsbreak has reported that Yayo sat down for an appearance on Million Dollaz Worth of Game earlier this year, where he reflected on the key differences in Jay-Z and 50 Cent's relationships with those they mentor. Tony Yayo said his bond with the latter is more giving, noting that it seems like all business with Hov.

"It's a difference. Jay-Z, never really like [...] Memphis Bleek, you would say he was his friend, but it was different for us. Me and 50 was more friends [...] I'm not saying them n***as wasn't friends, but when you look at me and Fif, it's like alright cool," said Yayo. "Jay and Bleek did they sell drugs, like in the same area? I was on the block with [50 Cent]. I can compare us to Jay and Bleek. What I'm saying to you is I feel like me and Fif have more of a friendship because Jay-Z is more business."

He continued,

“You gotta understand, lot of artists don’t get treated [well]. People think that Fif is a bad guy, but when you’re staying in the Four Seasons, you got the Eiffel Tower there, you staying at the W in Bahrain sipping Ranis on the water.”

Tony Yayo doubles down on his perspective about Jay-Z and 50 Cent:

In his appearance this month, Memphis Bleek said of Tony Yayo:

"I seen something Tony Yayo said Hov don't look out for me like 50 look out for him. I just want to clear that up, Hov don't have to. You know what I mean," said Bleek. "I'm chewing a lot on my own. If Hov look out, I'm telling you, I'll be up there. So when y'all see me out here, that's the Blizzo budget. I just want to let n***as know Hov don't have to."

Notably, this isn't the first time Tony Yayo has opened up about 50 Cent and Hov. During a ThisIs50 appearance in December 2022, the So Seductive two-time Platinum rapper revealed that he was still able to tour overseas, despite being in his prime when he was with G-Unit.

“That’s why I respect him because we have more of an assist,” Yayo said. “We have 50 Cent so I knew I was okay. He sold 11 million records I’m gonna get a percentage of his fans. I’m good. He had the kind of more do it on his own.”

He then reflected on Jay-Z:

“I’m quite sure Hov and a lot of artists, they treat some of their artists maybe good, maybe not. I’m just telling you how we get treated. I don’t know [if] JAY-Z ever had him in the Armani Hotel.”
