Death Grips has announced that they have another project forthcoming!

The experimental hip-hop band, originally comprised of MC Ride, Zach Hill, and producer Andy Morin, took to Instagram this week to share a string of photos in a studio, captioning it:

“The Writing and recording of our next album is underway. We’re looking forward to the new Death Grips record.”

They tagged Stefan [Burnett] (A.K.A. MC Ride) and Zach in the post, alluding to rumors that Andy Morin, a longtime member of the band, may no longer be a part of the group. The band last dropped music in 2018, when they released Year of the Snitch. As of this writing, it is unclear when their next project will debut, and Morin's status with the band.

Here's everything you need to know about Death Grips:

Death Grips made headlines earlier this year when rumors broke out that the band was splitting up. At the time, a DM from Moran’s Instagram account surfaced, where he allegedly said:

“Yeah it’s over, Stefan doesn’t want to do any more. But truthfully none of us can ever predict what will happen with the group”.

However, Consequence has reported that they later debunked those claims. In an update in April, Burnett and Hill said on the official Death Grips account:

“Despite rumour and hearsay, we remain active as Death Grips”.

The band was last active in 2023, when they hit the road for their first tour since 2019. They held performances across various cities, including Fayetteville, Arkansas. However, they reportedly had to walk off the stage earlier than expected because the audience kept hurling glow sticks at them.

In the years since then, Zach Hill launched his own band called Undo K From Hot, and also reissued the Hella album Hold Your Horse Is in 2023. As for Lucas Abela, just last week, the Australian musician debuted an album called Bag of Max Bag of Cass.

For the unknown, the band was formed in 2010 in Sacramento, California. The band focuses on hip-hop, punk rock, electronic, noise, and industrial styles of music, and is known for its cult following.

They debuted their first mixtape in April 2011, and by the following year, they dropped their debut studio album, The Money Store. Both projects garnered critical acclaim. They eventually signed with Epic Records, under which they dropped their sophomore album, No Love Deep Web.

Their third album, Government Plates, dropped in 2013, their fourth album, a double album called The Powers That B, came out the following year. They also dropped Bottomless Pit and Year of the Snitch in 2016 and 2018, respectively.
