Taylor Swift is yet again making headlines, but for reasons that are not quite caused by the singer. In a recent episode of Andy Cohen's Watch What Happens Live, The 1975's frontman Matty Healy's mother, Denise Welch, made an appearance on the show and left everyone stunned.

The two singers were rumoured to be dating in 2023 before the short-lived romance fizzled out, and Taylor started seeing her current boyfriend, Travis Kelce. When the news of their parting was announced, Healy received a lot of public backlash, especially from Swift's fans.

This might not have sat well with Denise, as in her talk show appearance, she dissed Swift on live TV. In a passive-aggressive comment, she stated,

“Obviously, on pain of death can I talk about that episode, but being her mother-in-law is a role that I am glad that I lost. Not that I have anything against her at all!" Welch quickly clarified. "It was just — it was tricky.”

She added, “She — listen, you're not allowed to say anything, and then she writes a whole album about it."

She then went on to defend her son, saying,

"Matty has taken it all in completely good grace.”

The actress also added an update about Healy's current relationship, saying,

“He’s very happy with his amazing fiancée Gabriella, who is gorgeous. So, we've moved on.”

Matty and Taylor Swift's relationship first started making headlines in the middle of May 2023 when they were spotted together a few times, along with him being spotted at her Eras Tour concerts as well. However, the two first met in 2014.

The romance came into Swift's life after her breakup with her 6-year-long relationship with Joe Alwyn. But it didn't quite last long, as they broke up that June, with a source telling PEOPLE magazine that it was always meant to be casual.

In true Taylor Swift fashion, the singer reportedly wrote about the fling. Songs in her 2024 album Tortured Poets Department are allegedly inspired by their brief affair, including “Guilty as Sin?”, “Fresh Out the Slammer,” “I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)” and “loml.”

However, both parties seem to be happy and content in their current relationships, with Healy being engaged to model Gabbriette Bechtel, and Kelce and the popstar going steady.
