Fortnite keeps up its pattern of music-based team-ups with a nod to two of the biggest names in today's hip-hop: XXXTentacion and Juice WRLD. Epic Games and JOGO Studios are setting up an all-around game event to mark the drop of a new mix, "whoa (mind in awe)," which has both artists singing.

The event kicks off on May 31 in Fortnite's Super Red vs. Blue Island right after the song comes out on May 30. This team-up is the first time the late rapper and Juice WRLD have made music together.

The remix gives a fresh spin to "whoa (mind in awe)," a track that first showed up on the late rapper's 2018 SKINS album. The song digs into feelings of inner struggle, bouncing back, and looking ahead—stuff that both artists often talked about in their songs. The lyrics go like this:

"Won't look back on my mind/ Won't let bad out my shine/ Won't let you cloud my mind/ Won't let you cloud my mind/ All my days, I was cryin'/ All my lows, all my highs/ Told my Mom, 'I'm gon' shine'/Told my love, 'I'm gon'.'"

Fans have responded eagerly to the announcement, especially following the release of a heartfelt video tribute by the estate that highlights the late rapper’s Jamaican heritage and passion for soccer, a tribute to his upbringing and cultural roots.

Fortnite honors XXXTentacion and Juice WRLD with immersive in-game experience

The collaboration idea came from an open verse XXXTentacion left behind, which Juice WRLD recorded in December 2018. That incomplete version has been making the rounds in fan circles for a while, creating a lot of buzz for the release. Now that the full remix is out there, fans can listen to the two artists' voices together.

To mark the release, Fortnite plans to feature four XXXTentacion songs in the game, including his hit Look at Me! Players can also check out an experience that honors X's background and culture.

Along with the themed playlist, Fortnite launched an XXXTentacion emote before the event. Through this partnership, the late rapper and Juice WRLD fans can enjoy their art in a new, hands-on setting. The Fortnite collaboration also reflects the goals of the XXXTentacion Foundation, which remains dedicated to honoring the artist’s legacy through creative and community-focused projects.

As gamers sign in and join the May 31 event, they get the chance to think about how these musicians shaped music and culture. To stay in the loop and learn how to take part, players can check out Fortnite's main website.
