Jami Morgan, vocalist of the American metalcore band Code Orange, announced that the music group is on a hiatus. On April 24, 2025, the vocalist sat down on the Nik Nocturnal Podcast to discuss his journey in music and his time with the band.

According to Last.Fm, Code Orange now comprises members Dominic Landolina, Eric Balderose, Jami Morgan, Reba Meyers, and Joe Goldman. At one point in the podcast, Nik asked if the band had any plans for the future. Morgan responded:

“I mean no. We don't, you know, Code Orange is on the shelf and I think it's there for a good reason, for many reasons. You know, I think you can put two two and four together and you will probably come to the answer.”

Jami Morgan shared that his close friend and Code Orange’s guitarist, Dominic, had been struggling with a serious genetic condition that affected his hand, neck, and foot. The situation had gotten so bad that it led them to cancel their first tour for the album.

Morgan recalled being very worried as Dominic's fingers were extremely swollen, and he was going through a tough time. Dominic eventually got the condition under control, which was a big relief. Jami Morgan said:

“I saw into the ether and I thought got to ride off for right now quietly and with some dignity.”

He said that Code Orange's album The Above captured a lot of what needed to be expressed during that difficult time. For him, it was not only meaningful on a spiritual and artistic level but also felt like the right way to mark that pause in their journey.

He described it as having the feeling of a "death record" in a symbolic sense, but in a way that was beautiful and meaningful to him.

Jami Morgan thinks Code Orange will accrue love

Jami Morgan explained that although Code Orange had everything lined up and ready to go, he and others agreed it wasn’t the right time or situation to move forward.

Hence, they decided not to force it. Instead of going against what felt natural, they chose to step back. Morgan added:

“I think that the band will accrue love there was so much art and love put into the band dude and so much thought and I think that over time hopefully that'll accrue and maybe like maybe the trends.”

He went on:

“And stuff will come around and swing to it because I do think it's I still 100% believe it's very forward thinking and I think it always kind of was and I'm very proud of that and I'm very proud of it.”

When asked about the past two years, Jami Morgan said life had been good. He shared that the last year or two had been focused on rebuilding and expanding slowly but steadily.

He and Shade, his main bandmate and producing partner, worked hard across different areas, exploring projects they had always wanted to pursue. Their efforts eventually led them to create an entity called Nowhere to Run.

Although the process had been tough, especially rebuilding something from the ground up, he found it rewarding and fulfilling.
