Chappell Roan made an unusual promise in a recent interview that she will one day go and perform in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.

Pop star Chappell Roan, who is also known as the “Midwest Princess,” will be making her way to the province of Saskatchewan, which borders the United States to the south, after her new song "The Subway" mentions the state.
Made you the villain, evil for just moving on/I see your shadow, I see it even with the lights off/I made a promise, if in four months this feeling ain't gone/Well, fuck this city, I'm moving to Saskatchewan
In a conversation with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, she stated that she chose the territory because it rhymed in the verse.
“We needed something [that ended with] ‘an,’” she told Lowe, who retorted, “They’re gonna erect a statue of you in the city, I’m telling you,”
She further responded, "You know what, it's about time Saskatchewan get recognized globally. It’s awesome. I’ve never been there, but I promise I will perform there one day. And I just love that the capital is called Regina,” she said, smiling coyly, doubling down, "I will be all up in Regina, don’t you worry.”
After the release of the song, the state is now going viral globally with a possible increase in tourism as well. Tourism Saskatchewan used the song in an Instagram post with the caption,
"If @chappellroan is moving to @tourismsask, so are we,"
Chappell Roan expresses she wants to take a break
In the same interview with Zane Lowe, Chappell Roan also expressed how she wants to take a break for a minute,
“I want to write music whenever I feel settled. I haven’t felt settled,” she admitted. “It’s been a very unsettling year and a half, and I think once I really feel calm in a new house and have a routine...then I can think about writing a song once I have a routine.”

The singer has been all over the place, with a headlining tour, playing numerous music festivals, "The Subway" being the second single this year, following "The Giver," her Grammy win, and more.
“That’s just not a thing right now, and it hasn’t been for a very long time. And then I came on this big tour. So it’s been a journey on...how do I release music within the state of everything?” she expressed.
Chappell Roan divulged how the new single is also a way for her to possibly move to a new era in her music career.
“I think it’s a good rung on the ladder. Midwest Princess is her, but even though this next era, I don’t really know what it is, but ‘Subway’ is a very safe segue to it. But I just think that ‘The Giver,’ ‘Good Luck, Babe,’ ‘The Subway,’ they’re all kind of so different, so that’s why I’m just like, ‘I have no idea what the next era is.’”
“The Subway” debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 and No. 3 on the Hot 100 this week.
