After it was announced that SEVENTEEN members S.Coups and Mingyu will be on the YouTube program CHOIZA ROAD, the hashtag #BOYCOTT CHOIZA ROAD has trended on X. The next episode's promo, released on May 28, 2025, shows Choiza, his friend Gaeko, and the two idols all recording in a studio.

Choiza is the host of Dynamic Duo. SEVENTEEN fans say that working with Choiza is the same as supporting his alleged bad conduct, thus, they are still angry. People are worried about Choiza's supposed connection with the late K-pop star Sulli, which is why they are doing this.

SEVENTEEN's S. Coups and Mingyu under fire: More details explored

CHOIZA ROAD, made by Choiza and Gaeko of Dynamic Duo, gives fans a close peek at how they make their music, as well as interviews, guest appearances, and behind-the-scenes events. The teaser for SEVENTEEN's forthcoming album, HAPPY BURSTDAY, features S.Coups (Choi Seung-cheol) and Mingyu (Kim Min-gyu) showing off their hip-hop skills in a professional recording setting.

The dispute is about Choiza's prior relationship with Sulli, portrayed by Choi Jin-ri, who used to be in the girl group f(x). Fans saw the couple a lot from 2013 to 2017. During that time, Choiza put out a lot of songs, but the most renowned one is Eat Pray Love (2015). Most people thought the lyrics were s*xually suggestive and even exploitative of Sulli.

After Sulli died in October 2019, they blamed Choiza for the intense public attention and harassment that she had to deal with. Sulli's mother publicly disapproved of the relationship in 2020 on an MBC program. She spoke about the 13-year age gap between the former couple.

As of May 30, Pledis Entertainment and HYBE (which oversees Pledis) have not made any official statements on the issue. Sources in the business say that the episode should come out shortly, given the time it takes to make CHOIZA ROAD.

But there are rumors that the agencies could change things, push back the release, or even take out S. Coups and Mingyu's part completely because of strong fan demand.

Choiza has not publicly commented on this topic so far. After Sulli died, however, he did post a thoughtful letter on Instagram in which he spoke about "grievances" and that he was sorry for how their relationship had been.

Social media users are curious to know how the boycott will affect the figures involved. A section of social media users is mostly concerned about the flow of events after the release of SEVENTEEN's HAPPY BURSTDAY.
