Pendulum 'Inertia': Every song ranked from best to worst

Pendulum’s most-awaited track, titled Inertia is all set to drop on August 22, 2025. It will be their first new album in 15 years.

The 16-track LP features contributions from Bullet For My Valentine, AWOLNATION, Hybrid Minds and Joey Valance & Brae, as per EDM. Pendulum is known for its high-octane fusion of drum, bass and rock.

The Australian band is recognised as one of the biggest electronic bands of all time having sold over a million copies in the UK alone. The band consists of Swire, the founding member since its inception in 2002; Gareth McGrillen, another founder who does backing vocals, DJ sets and production; Peredur ap Gwynedd, the guitarist; KJ Sawka, drums, percussion; and Paul Harding, DJ.

The members have described Inertia as an "emotional maelstrom" and "the band’s most personal work to date". We have provided the tracks on the album by ranking them from best to worst.

Ranking Every Song on Pendulum’s Inertia Album

Fans have praised Pendulum’s latest album, Inertia, calling it an “incredible track” on Reddit. Although most of them are captivated by the soundtracks, not every song hits the same note for every listener. So, we decided to deep dive into every track to rank the song’s creativity and lasting appeal.

Guiding Lights (ft. AWOLNATION)

This track has been highlighted as a standout track by Pendulum’s fans on Reddit. Fans appreciated the vocals by Rob Swire on this track. Their collaboration with AWOLNATION brings a power dynamic to the track overall.


Cartagena

This is the last track on the album. Fans called it an emotional track, while many called it their favorite song from Pendulum. People have appreciated the fresh tune of Cartagena. One of the fans on Reddit called it a “beautiful closer to the album.”


Save The Cat

Pendulum released its single Save The Cat in May 2025. Speaking of the single, Rob Swire said in a press release that the song was written "during a period of self-questioning and frustration.” He added- “Love felt like something I didn’t fully trust myself with anymore.”


Halo (ft. Bullet For My Valentine)

Halo, which features Bullet For My Valentine, was released as a single in 2023. The track was praised for its high-energy fusion of drum and bass. People on YouTube called one of the best collabs by the band.


Cannibal (ft. Wargasm)

Fans on YouTube loved the vocal diversity on ‘Cannibal,’ which features a collaboration with Wargasm. The track has been largely appealing for the ones who love Pendulum’s hard-hitting tracks like Slam and Granite.


‘Louder Than Words (ft. Hybrid Minds)

Louder Than Words is a collaborative single by Pendulum and the UK drum and bass duo Hybrid Minds. This track is part of their 2021 EP Elemental. Though the track’s production and emotional connection make it strong, some fans on Reddit ranked it lower.


Come Alive

This song was also released as a single by the band in 2021. The song mentions themes of awakening and presence with its lyrics –

“’Cause I come alive when you’re alone” and “This time, you’ll know I’m here.”

Archangel

This track from Pendulum’s latest album, Inertia, has been deemed an emotional track. However, the track didn’t receive detailed feedback from the listeners, which places it on a slightly lower rank.

Napalm (ft. Joey Valence & Brae)

This track was released as a single in 2024. It features Joey Valence & Brae with high-energy drum and bass styles. The track was admired by a majority; however, a few were left disappointed.


Driver

It is the opening song of Pendulum’s 2025 album, Inertia. The fans found the track similar to the band’s old tracks. However, not much has been heard from listeners on it.


Nothing For Free

Revealed in 2020, the song carries the theme of struggle and resistance as the lyrics of the track goes -

"We got the symptoms of a cold war / All of our troubles are make believe" and "There’s nothing for you / Nothing for me / Nothing for sale / Nothing for free."

Constellations

This is the seventh track on the album, Inertia. The song did not receive much hype in comparison to the other tracks on the album, featuring collaborations with other music artists.


The Endless Gaze

This is another track which is not talked about in fans’ discussions on social media platforms, which suggests that it has less impact on the listeners, falling in the lower category.


Colourfast

This track received mixed reviews from people on Reddit. They noted that the track sounded much like the live version, which comes as a disappointment in comparison to others. It was originally released in September 2023.


Mercy Killing (ft. Scarlxrd)

Mercy Killing is a track by Pendulum which features Scarlxrd. The song combines the band’s electronic drum and bass styles with the rapper’s vocal delivery. It received mixed reviews from the Reddit community, as fans praised the vocals of Rob Swire more than Scarlxrd’s style of delivery.


Silent Spinner

The song has been regarded as one of their weakest songs on the album, Inertia. It failed to generate a buzz in the online community.

Pendulum last released their complete album in 2010, which was titled Immersion. The new album has sent waves of excitement among their fans, which features 2021’s Elemental EP and 2023’s Anima EP.
