Lollapalooza 2025 is just around the corner, and music lovers are set to pitch their tents at Grant Park, Chicago, from July 31 to August 3, 2025, to enjoy good music. Although few tickets to the highly anticipated show are still available for sale, one needs to be careful not to fall victim to fraudsters springing up to sell to unsuspecting festival goers.

A look at the Lollapalooza website reveals that for 1-day tickets, only the platinum package is available and is selling fast, while general admission, GA+, and VIP have been moved to a waitlist. The 2-day tickets general admission package is available at $378. The 4-day hotel + festival experience ticket is sold out, while the other options under the package are waitlisted.

“Scammers know how to prey on urgency and emotion,” Steve J. Bernas warns prospective attendees of Lollapalooza

Steve J. Bernas, President of the Better Business Bureau, in a statement, warned that scammers would take advantage of desperate ticket buyers:

“Scammers know how to prey on urgency and emotion. They’ll send deceptive emails and texts, create phony ‘Wait List’ sites, and pose as legitimate resellers to steal your money and personal information. Don’t let the thrill of scoring tickets blind you to the risks.”

The BBB executive warned that tickets should only be purchased from Lollapalooza's verifiable website. He advised against buying from Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist as these platforms were riddled with unscrupulous users.

Only the correct QR codes and electronic tickets will be admitted into the festival venue. The fake ones, according to Steve J. Bernas, will be turned away at the gate.

He added:

"The popularity of Lollapalooza makes it a prime target for identity theft, financial fraud, and ruined plans."

The Better Business Bureau put out some fraudulent markers to identify and avoid scams:

  • Fraudsters may copy and paste the details of a real ticket and then “sell” it to as many purchasers as possible. The unsuspecting ticket holders will, unfortunately, get turned away at the gate when the tickets are discovered to be fake.
  • Fake websites will spring up to offer ridiculously low-priced tickets to trick people into entering their credit card info. No tickets arrive, and scammers use your information to purchase items.

More than 170 artists, both emerging talents and crowd favorites, are set to perform during the festival. Some of them include Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, and Luke Combs.
