Queens of the Stone Age released their new concert film, Alive in the Catacombs, on June 5, 2025. Vocalist Josh Homme talked about it in an exclusive interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe that was published on June 11, 2025, stating:

"What if I was writing these songs now, again, for this space? The first time I ever went in there was the night before. So, we're walking with the director and sort of improvising and listening to what the Catacombs is telling you what you could do."

The singer continued:

"I imagined it would be cathedral-like, with endless reverb. But the ceiling is dripping, the floor is gravel, and the air is thick with humidity. I will say playing there felt like getting on our knees and putting your head down. It had a very religious connotation to it. We were there to respectfully do our best."

In another interview with DIY Magazine on June 18, 2025, band member Michael Bassist described the experience:

"It was emotional. The state we were in, knowing that we were going home the next day, trying to make sure Josh doesn’t die down there with the rest of them. Six million people… all these f*cking lives. It’s not like ‘this is fun, cool and unique’ – this is really real. You’re around all this past life and death. It does something to you, emotionally."

He later added:

"I’m thinking about it all the fu***ng time, and also not at all. It was such a big turning point for [the band]. Is my friend gonna be okay? Does our band go on? When do we get back together and play shows? Can we? I’m constantly reminded about it, because it was such a big event - everything else revolved around it. That’s when everything stopped for us."

Alive in the Catacombs is Queens of the Stone Age's first concert film/live album since 2005's Over the Years and Through the Woods. Alive in the Catacombs received positive reviews upon release.
