Ice Spice recently starred in the film Highest 2 Lowest, alongside Denzel Washington. The rapper starred as the character Marisol Cepeda. The film is a remake of Akira Kurosawa's classic film, High and Low. The singer's acting debut has been met with fan backlash, as exemplified by the tweets below:

Ice Spice is also set to be a voice actor in the upcoming animated film, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants. This will be the singer's second acting credit.

Ice Spice released her debut album in 2024

While Ice Spice has been recently focused on her acting career, the singer released her debut studio album, Y2K!, in 2024. The album was highly successful upon release, charting well in the US, Lithuania, and more. After the release of the basic version, the singer worked on the album's deluxe edition, released in December 2024.

The album featured guest appearances by NLE Choppa, DaBaby, Bb trickz, Anuel AA, and production by RiotUSA, Goldin, Synthetic, Upmadeit, Ojivolta, and DJH, among others.

The singer talked about the album in an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone on July 25, 2024, reacting to the criticism she faced surrounding the album:

"Throughout my entire career, I don’t think I’ve ever had a moment of strictly praise. I think, through it all, there was always a lot of hate. And I kind of appreciate that, because I find that when people are only love, they’re not as real."

The rapper continued:

"I don’t dwell on how people are perceiving me, whether it’s negative or positive, because that’s really what you sign up for when you put yourself out there on a public platform. It’s for people to make their opinions about you."

She later talked about the title of the album as well as the aesthetics it implies:

“I was really born into chaos, and I feel like the album sounds very chaotic, in a good way. I just love the Y2K aesthetics as a whole, how people dressed. That’s just my sh*t."

The songwriter continued:

"I would just say it’s very cunty. Right now, things can be c***y, too, but it’s just everything [in the 2000s] was focused on being c***y. Everybody was like, ‘How can I be the cuntiest?’ And I just love that."

Ice Spice supported her studio album with an extensive tour between July 2024 and January 2025, featuring shows across Australia, Europe, and North America. The tour featured Bketherula as an opening act on the European shows, while Cash Cobain acted as the North American opening act.
