Lizzo recently appeared on a stream with BigXthaPlug on Twitch while they were out shopping at a Walmart store.
During the haul, the singer got into a debate around soda with Plug after she told Plug they needed to get some Coke Zeros, which are calorie and sugar-free diet Cokes.
BigXthaPlug pushed back against the idea, stating:
"Coke Zero is crazy. You might as well not even drink soda. It’s zero."
Lizzo then asked what he drinks, to which he replied that he drinks Coke. However, the singer was not satisfied with his reply and stated:
"So you’ll drink a full-fat Coke? Oh no no no."
The whole interaction also drew reactions from the internet, as exemplified by the tweets quoted below. Some netizens criticized the comment section, while others commented on the streamed showdown itself:
"The responses are as dumb as expected. But what's more impressive is the lack of common sense as to why Lizzo, who has shed A LOT of weight, is the perfect person to help Plug. All these incel a-holes see is a fat Black woman when Lizzo looks better than their non-existent girl." one netizen commented.
"I thought she was against losing weight before? Didn't she body shame skinny people when she big?" another netizen questioned.
"Small changes like swapping sugary drinks for healthier options can make a big difference for energy and overall health." one commenter wrote.
"Anybody who’s ever struggled with weight loss and hasn’t completely dropped soda of any kind, shouldn’t be giving anybody else nutritional advice yet. Food addiction, is still an addiction. There’s a reason sodas are not part of any successful diet." one netizen commented.
The episode comes after the two streamed a video of themselves dancing to the tune of The Largest, a track by BigXthaPlug from his album Take Care. Lizzo posted the video on her official Instagram page, which led to some media sites, such as Rap Up, speculating on whether or not the two were working together on new music.
Lizzo recently released her third mixtape
Lizzo recently released her third mixtape, My Face Hurts from Smiling, on June 27, 2025. This was her first mixtape since 2012. The singer talked about the mixtape in an exclusive interview with New York Magazine (Vulture) on September 8, 2025, talking about how she was winging it in terms of her music career:
"I put out those two singles, and it feels like I had a crash course in what putting music out as a pop artist in 2025 looks like, and it's... interesting. The industry and the landscape change every year. What worked last year is not going to work this year. I am flying by the seat of my pants, which is crazy because I had three years to plan this s**t out, and all of my plans kind of crumbled."
She later added:
"I think I needed to drop those songs so I could subvert that expectation of me because, in turn, it created this new discovery that I really wanted. I wanted people to rediscover who I am and fall in love with her all over again."
The new mixtape features guest appearances by SZA and Doja Cat and consists of 13 tracks on the original, with the September 5, 2025, re-release of it as My Face Still Hurts from Smiling taking it up to 21 tracks. My Face Still Hurts from Smiling features guest appearances by Lil John and Tierra Whack, alongside the original guest appearances.
