"Sounding like an anthem": Fans react excitedly as NBA taps unreleased Lil Wayne's 'The Days' from upcoming album, Tha Carter VI

The NBA has shocked Lil Wayne’s fans after they featured his unreleased track, The Days from his upcoming album, Tha Carter VI in their 2025 NBA Finals campaign.

The song, which features Bono, debuted in an ESPN promo ad for the NBA finals between the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder on June 5, 2025. The rapper’s album is all set to release on June 6, 2025.

This is not the first time ESPN has collaborated with Wayne, but they have been using his songs I Am Not a Human Being, Uproar and Glory throughout the NBA playoffs during brand promotions, according to a press release by ESPN.

"I pledge allegiance to what I believe in/ Live to fight another day," Wayne raps.
"I ain't getting younger, but I'm getting better/ No time to waste that's another man's treasure/ They say every dog has hit day."

Fans are buzzing with excitement on social media as ESPN has teased a glimpse of Lil Wayne’s unreleased track during their NBA commercial. The ad has sparked widespread reactions from excited users. Taking to YouTube, a fan wrote:

Netizens react as ESPN teases Lil Wayne’s ‘The Days’ from his upcoming album, Tha Carter VI

According to a report in Rolling Stone, Lil Wayne's The Days is an introspective track where he reflects on his life. Tha Carter VI reportedly features a total of 19 songs on its track list. The Lollipop rapper' fans have shown excitement over his collaboration. They have praised the energy and emotion of the track that brings to the NBA playoffs.

“This is why I like lil Wayne. He's a raw rapper y'all go listen to Carter 2. But now he wants to be involved with something bigger like Superbowl and NBA . “I also feels like his also showing his respect to Jay in the new commercial. They both are getting old and doing other business adventure, but they love music so much.” A user wrote on X.

Wayne has himself expressed excitement as basketball is his favorite sport. He said in a statement:

“Basketball’s been in my blood since day one, so to team up with ESPN less than 24 hours before the drop of Tha Carter VI for the NBA Finals is an incredible honor. My music and the NBA are vibin’ on the same frequency because it’s perfect timing for fans to hear Tha Carter VI on the game’s grandest stage.”

The rapper has recently announced a North America tour in support of his upcoming album, Tha Carter VI. He will be headlining New York City’s Madison Square Garden for the first time in his career. The tour will feature special guests such as Tyga, NoCap and Belly Gang Kushington on select dates, according to the New York Post.

Wayne’s latest album is his 14th studio album and the first album since the release of his 2023’s Welcome 2 ColleGrove with 2 Chainz.
