In the ninth episode of The Handmaid's Tale, Taylor Swift's Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version) debuted, sparking excitement among her fans and all over the internet.

The song appeared in the episode when June Osborne (played by Elisabeth Moss) leads a dramatic uprising against the Commanders in Gilead, and that's when the re-recorded track plays, making the scene thrilling and intense. Although the re-recorded version appeared in the episode, Taylor has not released the song online or on any streaming services.

Elisabeth Moss, the executive producer and the lead star in the series, expressed what she felt about using Taylor's track in the series to Billboard. This is what she said:

''I’ve been wanting to use a Taylor song for many years on the show and we finally found the perfect spot for a track from her, and I’m so glad we waited because there could not be a more perfect song for a more perfect moment.''

She continued:

''Taylor has been such an inspiration to me personally. As a Swiftie myself, and I think I can speak for [co-star] Yvonne [Strahovski] and our entire cast as well, who are all Swifties, it’s such an honor to be able to use her music in the final episodes of our show.''

Taylor has re-released four of her albums so far, including Fearless and Red in 2021, 1989, and Speak Now in 2023. Other than the re-records, Taylor has also released her new albums, including her tenth studio album, Midnights, in 2022, and her eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, in 2024.

Taylor ended her sixth concert tour, The Eras Tour, in December 2024. It had begun in March 2023 and spanned 149 shows across 51 cities, making it the highest-grossing tour of all time.

The first time Taylor gave her fans a glimpse of her upcoming album, Reputation (Taylor’s Version), was when she included the new version of her song Delicate in the latest season of the Prime Video show The Summer I Turned Pretty, as per Consequence.
