Sabrina Carpenter is not afraid of getting a little risqué on stage, as well as in her song lyrics. Many have complained about the sensual elements that the Short n' Sweet singer has incorporated into her performances, especially during her Short n' Sweet Tour. This includes the suggestive dance moves, the "positions" she would often depict while crooning her lyrics from Juno:

"Have you ever tried this one?"

Sabrina Carpenter is the cover girl for this month's Rolling Stone magazine. The 26-year-old Grammy winner addressed all the critics who complained about her songs that are laced with s*xual innuendos and lyrics. This is what Sabrina had to say:

"It’s always so funny to me when people complain. They’re like, 'All she does is sing about this.' But those are the songs that you’ve made popular... Clearly you love s*x. You're obsessed with it. It's in my show."

Sabrina Carpenter addresses criticism about her suggestive lyrics and performances

One of the biggest issues critics had against Sabrina Carpenter's Short n' Sweet Tour focused on her performance of Juno. Whenever she sings the lines:

"Wanna try out some freaky positions? / Have you ever tried this one?" Sabrina proceeds to show fans the said "freaky positions".

Clips from her tour concerts would go viral every time. Carpenter admits that she "can't control" what gets more views and shares online.

In her words, she said that the Juno moments are not the only part of her show. She performs other songs and choreography as well, but ultimately, it is always the Juno performance that goes viral. She explained:

"There’s so many more moments than the 'Juno' positions, but those are the ones you post every night and comment on. I can’t control that."

While on the topic of her sensuality, she also commented on how she is not the only woman who is being targeted for being open about it. Carpenter stated that she:

"Truly feel[s] like I’ve never lived in a time where women have been picked apart more and scrutinized in every capacity."

She also added:

"I'm not just talking about me. I'm talking about every female artist that is making art right now... We're in such a weird time where you would think it's girl power, and women supporting women, but in reality, the second you see a picture of someone wearing a dress on a carpet, you have to say everything mean about it in the first 30 seconds that you see it."

Sabrina Carpenter was also critiqued for announcing a new album so soon after her Short n' Sweet studio album. But this is what the Please Please Please singer had to say:

"If I really wanted to, I could have stretched out Short n' Sweet much, much longer. But I'm at that point in my life where I’m like, 'Wait a second, there's no rules.' If I'm inspired to write and make something new, I would rather do that... Why would I wait three years just for the sake of waiting three years? It's all about what feels right."

She concludes:

"I'm learning to listen to that a lot more instead of what is perceived as the right or wrong move."

Sabrina Carpenter is still on her Sweet n' Short concert tour. Her next shows will be in London at Hyde Park on July 5 and 6, after which she will continue with the North American leg of her tour. Sabrina's upcoming studio album, Man's Best Friend, is scheduled to be released on August 29, 2025.
