Twisted Sister has announced the band's 50th anniversary tour. The band announced the tour to Ultimate Classic Rock, confirming in a joint Instagram post with the publication on September 10, 2025. Band member Dee Snider, who is the lead vocalist, stated:

"If you’re lucky enough to be in a band that people still want to see after fifty years(!), how can you not answer the call? In 2026, Twisted F*cking Sister will hit stages around the world because WE STILL WANNA ROCK!!”

Tour dates and other details have not been announced as of the writing of this article. Interested patrons will need to keep an eye on the band's socials for such details. The upcoming tour will be the band's first new tour since their farewell tour back in 2016.

The upcoming tour, as mentioned in the announcement, will feature Joe Franco on drums and Russell Pzütto on bass, alongside the remaining original members of the band. The band's original drummer, A. J. Pero, died in 2015, just a year before the band went on a hiatus.

Twisted Sister history: An overview

Twisted Sister is an American heavy metal band that started out back in 1976. The band was an evolution of a previous band, Silver Star, which ran from 1972 to 1973, as well as Bent Brother, the follow-up to Silver Star from 1973 to 1976.

Twisted Sister released its debut album, Under the Blade, in 1982. The band gained prominence with their album Stay Hungry, which was released on May 10, 1984. The album charted well upon release and received multi-platinum certifications in Canada and the US.

Dee Snider talked about his time in the band in an exclusive interview with X5 Podcast on October 9, 2024, stating:

"I joined TWISTED SISTER and I joined the band that existed. They were all older guys. They're a few years older than me. And they were all from New York City, the Bronx. They had that New York attitude. I was a suburban rube. So I was younger than them. I came in the band starry eyed. I had a voice and they treated me like I was the kid."

The singer continued:

"And it really alienated me from the guys. I love them all now — I mean, we're friends — but at that time, starting out, it really made me feel like I wasn't in the band. So I didn't feel like I was a part of the band for a long time."

He later talked about how he came to have writing credits for the band's songs:

"I tried to write with them and they didn't write with me. So I wound up writing and became very by myself and alone and working on these songs and I never felt like this was something I shared. I'd go in and say, 'This is the guitar part. This is the drum part.' And I would tell everybody what to do — not solos and stuff, but I very much was coming in as a loner with my songs..."

Twisted Sister had two hiatus periods, with the band first disbanding in 1988, before reuniting in 1998. The band released their final studio album, A Twisted Christmas, on October 17, 2006.
