The Red in the Sky Is Ours is At the Gates' debut album, which was released in 1992. Three and a half decades later, the band announced a few hours ago on their official Instagram that Tomas Lindberg, one of the co-founders of the Swedish melodic death metal band, had passed away.

Lindberg was diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma, a type of mouth/palate cancer, three years ago. However, the band only shared the news with the public this year.

A few months after Tomas' diagnosis was made public, he passed away due to complications during the treatment. It was revealed that Tomas Lindberg's treatment included removing the roof of his mouth including radiation.

In their Instagram post, At the Gates wrote:

"Tomas passed away this morning following complications related to his ongoing cancer treatment. Despite intensive medical efforts, his life could not be saved. Tomas - You were an inspiration to us all. A true friend, both compassionate & sympathetic."

They concluded the post by writing:

"You will always be remembered for your generosity and your creative spirit. You will be eternally missed. Forever in our hearts."
