According to a report in The Mirror, he had to cancel his US tour last year after being diagnosed with fast-growing lymphoma. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jules, and sons Dylan, 20, and Evan, 18.

The late singer was first diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 1995 and later with lymphocytic leukaemia twice, first in 2005, which returned in 2015. His wife battled the disease as well.

Despite his cancer diagnosis, he continued to live his life as a music legend, touring extensively and performing live. Even after his diagnosis worsened in 2024 with Richter’s syndrome, an aggressive lymphoma that forced him to cancel a 50-date US tour, Peters remained determined to continue his music career and advocacy, per Billboard.

Tributes have been pouring in for Peters on his demise. Here is how his fans are remembering him.
