Alice In Chains was supposed to go on tour across the US in the coming spring. They were also supposed to perform at a number of festivals and other events as well. However, the band has now canceled all dates due to an undisclosed medical problem that Sean Kinney, the drummer of the band, is currently dealing with.

The exact details regarding the medical condition are not available as of the writing of this article, but the condition started, as far as the public is aware, when a medical emergency suffered by Sean Kinney forced the band to cancel its Mohegan Sun Arena show on May 8, 2025.

Now the band has released a statement regarding the cancellation of their remaining festival appearances and the aforementioned tour, stating:

"After careful consideration and following the advice of medical professionals, we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming festival performances and the Alice in Chains headline shows."

The statement:

"While we were all eager to return to the stage, Sean’s health is our top priority at this moment. Although the issue requires immediate attention, his long-term prognosis is positive. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support during this time."

While the band has not announced any details for ticket refunds, ticket refunds are usually automatically processed to the original payment account by vendors such as Ticketmaster. For third-party resale tickets, such as Vivid Seats and SeatGeek, ticket holders might need to contact said resale ticket website for ticket refunds.

Alice in Chains was set to perform at festivals such as Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival and Welcome to Rockville, as well as the Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham on July 5, 2025. The band last embarked on a full tour back in 2024.

Alice In Chains has not released a new album since 2018

Alice In Chains has not released a new album since 2018, when the band released Rainier Fog. The band, back in 2022, was considering a new album, with band member William DuVall stating in an exclusive interview with Overdrive on April 19, 2022:

"Right now, we’re just coming out of the lockdowns and we’ve all been busy doing our own thing. Jerry [Cantrell, Alice in Chains guitarist] is out on tour at the moment for his solo album and I’m doing my thing. We have plans for some live shows in September/October, and I’m sure that will blow-off the cobwebs and we’ll start looking at some new ideas for the next AIC album."

The singer continued:

"We had a lot of time imposed on us and I think we’re going through this period of catching up on things that we had planned for 2020/2021, and we’re all finally getting to do that now."

The singer added:

So, it’s kind of like a stop-gap and we’re just dealing with all of these stock-pilled projects that we had planned a few years back, so once we get back up to speed with things, and we get these dates underway in late Summer, I’m sure it will spark a whole bunch of ideas for the next Alice In Chains studio album."

Alice in Chains is best known for their second studio album, Dirt, which was released on September 29, 1992. The album was the band's last album with all four original members.
