Jimmy Page, legendary guitarist of Led Zeppelin, remains tight-lipped about his future projects. In an interview on Talk Is Jericho, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith hinted that Jimmy Page may have stopped playing guitar, as he reportedly declined to appear on Ozzy Osbourne’s upcoming album:

"We made another [Ozzy album], and it's getting mastered tomorrow. We tried to get Jimmy Page, we tried to get the holy trinity, but I don't think Page plays anymore too much, unfortunately,”

Page, whose net worth is reportedly $180 million, addressed the retirement rumors in an interview with Classic Rock, affirming that he still plays and is working on several projects:

“There’s various things I’m working towards. It’s not just one thing, it’s multiple things,”

The guitar-playing legend didn’t reveal more details about these projects:

“I don’t want to even give a hint because if you do… you give a one-sentence sound bite, and then if it doesn’t materialise, it’s like, ‘Why didn’t you do a solo album?’”

“I don’t want to give people the chance to misinterpret it,” Jimmy Page explains reason for being tight-lipped about future projects

In his interview with Classic Rock, Jimmy Page stated that he didn’t want his statements to be misinterpreted by fans and the media, so he wasn’t revealing much about his upcoming projects:

"So I don’t want to say what it is that I’ve got planned because I don’t want to give people the chance to misinterpret it.”

Speculation is rife about what Page’s upcoming projects might entail, with some fans hopeful it could involve Led Zeppelin.

Jimmy Page, in a BBC Radio 2 interview in 2020, stated that the chances of a Led Zeppelin reunion were unlikely. The guitarist revealed that the band made plans to go on tour in 2007 following their reunion show at The O2, but they fell through:

"At the time of The O2, we thought — myself, John Paul Jones and Jason [Bonham] — that there was going to… it was said that there were gonna be some more dates. It would've been really good to have done that after the O2, 'cause we'd put a lot of work into The O2, and we were really on it, y'know? But it didn't come off."

Page added:

“It seems really unlikely that there would be a tour in the future.”

It seems likely that Jimmy Page is focused on an album of his own. In 2020, the Led Zeppelin guitarist revealed that he had “reconnected with guitar” and vaguely indicated that he was working on “something”:

"I’m never not doing something, and I’m never not doing something that’s going to surprise people."
