Ace Frehley passed away at the age of 74 after suffering a fall in his studio earlier this month. He was put on life support due to a brain bleed.

He was the founding member of the rock band KISS, which released its self-titled debut album on February 18, 1974. It was released by Casablanca Records.

Frehley was known for his unique stage persona called “The Spaceman” or “Space Ace.” It was inspired by his interest in science fiction and space. He was not only a legendary guitarist of KISS but also helped in designing the band’s iconic logo.

Gene Simmons, the bassist and co-lead vocalist, adopted the character of The Demon. Paul Stanley, the rhythm guitarist and co-lead vocalist, was the Starchild. Peter Criss, the original drummer, was The Catman.

Rock and Roll All Nite, Shout It Out Loud, Love Gun and God of Thunder were some of the hits produced by the band.

Exploring the discography of Ace Frehley's band "KISS"

KISS was formed by Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley in New York City in 1973. The legendary rock band became known for its theatrical live performances and elaborate makeup. A report in the BBC indicated that the band had sold 100 million records by 2024.

Over the years, KISS has released 24 studio albums between 1974 to 2012. It includes their self-titled album, released by KISS on February 18, 1974. They released Hotter Than Hell on October 22, 1974. It was followed by Dressed to Kill and Alive in 1975.

Other notable studio albums include - Rock and Roll Over, Love Gun and Dynasty. The band continued to release albums in the coming years, with titles such as Creatures of the Night, Lick It Up, Asylum, Crazy Nights, Revenge, and Psycho Circus. Kiss released their last album in 2012, which was titled Monster.

In the early stages of his career, Ace Frehley wrote only a few songs and did not have confidence in his singing. He wrote Cold Gin, Parasite, Strange Ways, and co-wrote Coming Home. Shock Me from the band’s classic Love Gun is another fan-favorite that was inspired by Ace Frehley’s near-electrocution incident. He made his first lead vocal debut with this track.

Detroit Rock City, Deuce, Sure Know Something, Seduction of the Innocent, She, Parasite, and Makin' Love are some of the other best songs from KISS.

On Ace Frehley’s passing, his bandmates – Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons released a joint statement, where they wrote:

“We are devastated by the passing of Ace Frehley. He was an essential and irreplaceable rock soldier during some of the most formative foundational chapters of the band and its history. He is and will always be a part of Kiss' legacy. Our thoughts are with Jeanette, Monique and all those who loved him, including our fans around the world.”

Peter Criss also shared a tribute for Frehley on his website. He wrote:

“With a broken heart and deep, deep sadness, my brother Ace Frehley has passed away. He died peacefully with his family around him. My wife and I were with him to the end as well ... As a founding member of the rock group KISS and in Ace's solo career, Ace influenced and touched the hearts of millions of people. His legacy will live on in the music industry and in the hearts of the KISS Army.”

The legendary guitarist is survived by his spouse Jeanette, his daughter Monique, a brother, and a sister.
