The drama between Ray J and Sexyy Red

The Let It Go singer, Ray J, also known as William Norwood, has stirred a controversy online after he made some bold comments during a Twitch livestream on Sunday, June 8. During the stream, this is what he said about Sexyy Red:

''I slept with Sexyy Red… that’s on the dead homies. Talking about I party with Sexyy Red, n***a. Ask her. That’s on the dead homies, n***a. I slept with her, n***a.''

This clip from the stream went viral on the internet, with netizens drawing theories and speculations. However, on the same day, Ray apologized for the wild claim during the live stream in a social media video caught by Livebitez on Instagram. This is what he said:

''I want to apologize to Sexyy Red. Sexyy Red is one of my favorite artists. Sexyy Red and I was on a plane. We were both flying somewhere. We randomly saw each other. She was sitting by me. She had her space. I had my space. She had her own blanket, her own pillow. I had my own blanket and my own pillow. And we had a long flight. We both were tired, so we went to sleep. Just like we would sleep with anybody else that was sitting next to us on a plane.

He continued:

"I went out of control and I said that I slept with Sexyy Red. That's insensitive and it's not okay and it's trolling at the highest level. I want to say, Sexyy Red, my bad. I hope this gets out there and this gets clipped and this gets shown. Because even though if I said it later on the stream, that didn't get clipped. All they heard was what I said. It was childish, it was uncalled for, and it wasn't cool. My bad, Sexyy.''

Amidst this drama, the What Do You Mean? singer Justin Bieber publicly defended Sexyy Red on his Instagram stories and called out Ray J, clarifying that the comments he made were false and unwelcome. Sexyy Red also tweeted and criticised Ray J on X (formerly Twitter) for lying on the live stream.

While the drama has now come to a standstill, it went viral over social media, labelling the moment as a 'viral rant,' while some reacted to it with memes and criticisms.
