Sludge metal veterans Acid Bath are officially back on stage after nearly three decades. The Louisiana-based band kicked off their reunion tour with two shows in their hometown of New Orleans: first on April 25, 2025, and again on April 30, 2025, at The Fillmore.

These performances are Acid Bath's first live appearances since 1997, when the band abruptly ended its journey following a tragic loss.

Acid Bath was formed in 1991. It gained a notable fan following for their intense sound that features a blend of sludge, doom, and death metal. They released two studio albums, When the Kite String Pops (1994) and Paegan Terrorism Tactics (1996), before disbanding in 1997.

The split was caused by the death of bassist Audie Pitre and his parents in a car accident. In October 2024, the band announced their reunion, which initially included a slot at the now-cancelled 2025 Sick New World Festival.

Notably, the April 25 show was held exactly 28 years to the day after their final pre-breakup performance at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium in 1997. The reunion lineup features original members Dax Riggs (vocals), Sammy "Pierre" Duet (guitar, also of Goatwhore), and Mike Sanchez (guitar), joined by drummer Zack Simmons and bassist Alex Bergeron.

The band played the same 10-song setlist on both nights. Fans were treated to tracks like Graveflower, Bleed Me an Ocean, and Venus Blue.

The surprise of the night was the live debut of Dead Girl, a song originally performed by Dax Riggs' post-Acid Bath band, Agents of Oblivion.

As reported by Consequence of Sound, the complete setlist performed on both April 25 and April 30 shows is as follows:

  • Tranquilized
  • Bleed Me an Ocean
