American rock band I Prevail was formed 12 years ago in Southfield, Michigan, in 2013. The band rose to popularity through a metal cover of Taylor Swift's Blank Space. Their version of the song managed to hit number 90 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 23 on the US Mainstream Rock Songs chart. As of today, the band has released three studio albums, one EP, and more than 20 singles.
Over the years, the band has seen many band members come and go. Some of the past members include Jordan Berger, Tony Camposeo, and Lee Runestad. The most recent member to leave is Brian Burkheiser. The band addressed the situation on their official X account. They wrote:
"To Our I Prevail Family: Today we share that we are mutually parting ways with Brian Burkheiser. This was a difficult decision, but we believe it is the right one and we are all grateful for the 10 epic years we shared together. We wish Brian nothing but success and happiness in his future endeavors."
The clarified fans' questions and doubts are in the next paragraph. They said:
"Moving forward, Eric will continue to be the powerhouse frontman you’ve come to know and love. He’ll be backed up live by Dylan who you’ve seen in this role many times over the years at the shows we’ve performed without Brian. / Rest assured, we will continue to deliver the high-energy shows that we’ve made a pillar of our band, and we will continue to perform all the bangers from our catalogue. All scheduled shows will go on exactly as planned."
They concluded their announcement by giving fans something to look forward to. I Prevail added:
"New music coming soon... See you out there. Eric, Steve, Dylan and Gabe".
I Prevail did not shed any light on the reason why Brian Burkheiser left the band.
I Prevail's history and accomplishments
The rock band started with a simple metal cover of Taylor Swift's Blank Space, which blew up on the charts, helping I Prevail gain the recognition it deserves. A few days after the cover was released, the band was working on an EP and released two singles. These include Love, Lust, and Liars and The Enemy.
In the same year (2014), the band released their EP, Heart Vs. Mind. They made their debut album in 2016 called Lifelines. Three years later, their second studio album, Trauma, was released. Their latest and third studio album, called True Power, was released in 2022.
The American rock band has been nominated for two Grammys in 2019. One is for Bow Down under the "Best Metal Performance," and the other is for their album Trauma under "Best Rock Album."
They also won the Loudwire Music Awards "Hard Rock Song of the Year" in 2017 for their song Alone.
While the reasons for Brian Burkheiser's departure are not made clear, fans speculate that it might have something to do with Burkheiser's previous health issues. The former lead singer of I Prevail has yet to comment on these speculations.
