The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has unveiled its class of 2025. Female solo musician, Cyndi Lauper, is among the other new inductees, including Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Outkast, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes.

These seven artists, who were reportedly inducted into the performer category, were announced during a live segment on American Idol on April 27, 2025, by Ryan Seacrest, according to a report in Billboard.

In addition to those who the voters selected from the 2025 ballot, six more musicians and executives were directly selected by the board members for induction, which adds up to a total of 13 inductees.

According to the reports, the complete induction ceremony will occur on November 8, 2025, at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. It will stream live on Disney+ and will arrive on Hulu the next day.

Performer Category

According to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, this category recognizes:

The artists inducted under this are first-time nominees.

Bad Company

It is a British rock band known for hits such as Feel Like Makin’ Love and Bad Company. According to a report in NPR, they released their self-titled debut album in 1974.

Chubby Checker

He is an American singer and dancer. He rose to fame with his 1960s cover of The Twist. He is currently 83 and had earlier expressed his will to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, per Billboard.

Joe Cocker

He is a British singer-songwriter renowned for his gritty, soulful voice and dynamic stage presence. With a Little Help from My Friends, Feelin' Alright?, Up Where We Belong, and You Are So Beautiful are some of his hits.

Cyndi Lauper

She became a renowned figure in the 1980s. Her famous songs include, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, and Time After Time.

OutKast

It is a hip-hop group formed in 1992 by Big Boi and André 3000. They are known for their albums like ATLiens, Aquemini, and the Grammy-winning Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.

Soundgarden

They are the grunge pioneers who rose from Seattle, fronted by Chris Cornell. They are known for songs like Black Hole Sun and Fell on Black Days.

The White Stripes

It is an American rock band based in Detroit, made up of Jack White and Meg White, who became famous in the early 2000s.

This category includes artists whose music and performance style have directly influenced, inspired, and evolved rock & roll and music impacting culture, as per the official website.

Salt-N-Pepa

A female trio known for their hip hop and R&B music. According to their official website, they are the first female rap act to achieve gold and platinum status and win a Grammy Award. They announced the news on Instagram and wrote:

“From Walk of Fame in 2021 to Hall of Fame in 2025 and everything in between!!”

Warren Zevon (Posthumous)

He was a singer and a songwriter who was celebrated for his dark, witty storytelling in songs like Werewolves of London and Lawyers, Guns and Money. Zevon, who passed away in 2003.

This category belongs to those:

"Artists, musicians, songwriters, and producers whose originality and influence have had a dramatic impact on music."

Thom Bell (Posthumous)

He was a record producer, songwriter, and arranger, per the New York Times. He passed away in 2022 at the age of 79.

Nicky Hopkins (Posthumous)

He has been regarded as the hero of the piano. He reportedly played on over 250 albums during his career. He died in 1994 in California, reported The Independent. Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones called him 'the greatest rock 'n' roll piano player in the world.

Carol Kaye

She is a bass guitarist and recently celebrated her 90th birthday in March 2025. According to a report in Music Radar, she worked on The Beach Boys’ Good Vibrations, Nancy Sinatra’s These Boots Are Made For Walkin', Sam Cooke’s Summertime, Ritchie Valens’, Joe Cocker’s, and other famous artists’ recordings.


Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award

This award is presented to non-performing industry professionals who have had a major influence on music.

Lenny Waronker

He is the producer and the former head of Warner Bros. Records.

According to USA Today, the top vote earners in order were Phish, Bad Company, Idol, Lauper, Cocker, Soundgarden, and Checker. Those who didn’t make it to the list included The Black Crowes, Billy Idol, Maná, Phish, Mariah Carey, Oasis, and Joy Division/New Order.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction is an annual event that honors and celebrates musicians, bands, producers, and other industry figures who have made significant and lasting contributions to the music industry.
