Ben Lee is officially heading back out on the road in 2025. The beloved indie artist has announced a national tour across Australia to celebrate 20 years since the release of his critically acclaimed 2005 album, Awake Is the New Sleep.
The album, which included fan favorites like "Catch My Disease" and "We're All In This Together," marked a creative breakthrough for Ben Lee in the mid-2000s. Now, nearly two decades later, Lee is set to revisit the record in its entirety with a full live band. Joining him on this newly announced 11-date tour are fellow Australian singer-songwriters Sally Seltmann and Huck Hastings, two standout voices from the country’s indie music scene.
Ben Lee shared the tour and supporting act announcement via an official Instagram post, captioning:
"Could not be more excited to announce the special guests for my "Awake is the New Sleep" 20th anniversary Aussie tour - @sally_seltmann and @huckhastings !!! Sally toured with me back on the original Awake tour in 2005 and has been a longtime ally, collaborator and, above all, songwriter whose music I adore. It felt only right to make another lap of the country together."
The post continued:
"Huck Hastings is at the forefront of a new generation of indie Aussie songwriters, making personal gorgeous music, full of heart, without compromise and without a road map. Can't wait to hit to the road with these dudes! Tix on sale now via link in bio"
Ben Lee's Awake Is the New Sleep was originally released in 2005. It debuted at #5 on the ARIA Album Chart. This is his highest-charting release to date, and it went on to earn three ARIA Awards. Songs from the album, including "Gamble Everything for Love" and "Catch My Disease," were rotated on Triple J and appeared in television series such as Grey's Anatomy.
Who are the supporting acts?
Sally Seltmann
Seltmann is mainly known for her solo work and as a member of Seeker Lover Keeper. She will return to the road with Lee after originally touring Awake Is the New Sleep with him in 2005. Her songwriting credentials include co-writing Feist's hit "1234". Ben Lee describes Seltmann as "a longtime ally, collaborator."
Huck Hastings
Sydney's Huck Hastings is a rising voice in Australia's indie-pop landscape. "Huck is at the forefront of a new generation of indie Aussie songwriters," Lee says.
