Karl Johan Schuster, or professionally known as Shellback, will be teaming up with Taylor Swift for her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl. The Swedish songwriter and record producer will be one of the sole producers of Swift's twelfth studio album, along with Max Martin.
As a record producer, he has worked with some popular artists in the music industry. He has a total of four Grammys under his belt and was named the No. 1 producer in 2012 on Billboard magazine's year-end chart. Some of the artists Shellback has worked with are Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Ke$ha, Leona Lewis, Adam Lambert, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Tove Lo, The Jonas Brothers, and more.
Shellback and Taylor Swift have worked together on some songs from her previous albums. The albums are Red, 1989, Reputation, as well as the 'Taylor's Version' of 1989 and Red.
Taylor Swift talks about songs she has made with Shellback
During the announcement of her new album on the New Heights podcast, Swift talked about how this is the first time she, Shellback, and Max Martin will be making an album.
She said:
"The three of us have made some of my favorite songs that I’ve ever done before.”
Some of these include 22, Shake It Off, and Blank Space.
She continued:
"We've never actually made an album before where they're, where it's just the three of us... There’s no other collaborators. It’s just the three of us making a focused album."
Swift also revealed that the production of her twelfth studio album began while she was in the middle of her Eras Tour, while she was in Sweden. She explained:
"When I was on tour in Stockholm, I had Max Martin come out to the show, and I was talking to him, and I was like, 'I just feel like we could knock it out of the park if we went back in.'"
