Alessia Cara has officially confirmed that her upcoming Latin American shows will no longer take place. The Canadian singer-songwriter took to social media to share a statement and explain that the decision came after "unprofessionalism, mishandling, and lack of communication" from promoters who were handling part of the tour.
Notably, Alessia Cara's announcement comes months after the U.S. leg of her Love & Hyperbole world tour was also postponed earlier. Fans across Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Mexico, who were expecting to see the Grammy-winning artist later this fall, will now miss out on seeing the singer perform live.
Alessia Cara's complete official statement regarding the Latin American tour cancellation
In her post, Alessia Cara admitted she had been "dreading" breaking the news and said the cancellations left her feeling frustrated and disappointed. According to her, the promoter for Argentina and Brazil shows "simply lost faith and pulled out." Alessia Cara's complete official statement posted on her X (formerly Twitter) page is as follows:
"hi my LATAM friends. I have some bad news. I've been absolutely dreading this and i don't even have the words to express my true frustration, sadness and disappointment for the situation. I just got confirmation that we have to cancel the Latin America shows."
Alessia Cara continued to detail the situation:
"first of all, I understand that because I'm the face of my music and the only person you see, that I would naturally take the hit for this. I'm aware that comes with the job, no matter how hurt i am by this too. the reality is, though, that there are so many people involved in making a show happen and this time, a few of those people forced our hand. for sake of transparency (which you absolutely deserve, especially after the US dates fiasco), I'll be honest and say the promoter for the Argentina & Brazil shows simply lost faith and pulled out. We tried to reason, tried to scale back on production, and do everything we can to find a solution, but ultimately it came down to not seeing eye to eye and having no choice but to cancel.
"I tried to keep the México show since it was handled by different promoters, but financially I admittedly can't sustain doing that without the other shows in the books. full disclosure, I feel really frustrated by the unprofessionalism, mishandling, and lack of communication (you guys find out some things before I did and you can imagine how that made me feel!) from other parties. needless to say I am no longer working with those people."
Though Mexico had a different promoter, Alessia Cara said she could not financially sustain the single date after the other Latin American stops were dropped. She also added:
"this is not to throw anyone under the bus, it's to give you all honesty as respectfully as possible. If I'm going to cancel shows, the least I can do is tell you why. I feel incredibly embarrassed to do this. I understand this tour situation has been confusing and messy from the start, and I'm doing everything I can in my personal power to make this up to you somehow while also ensuring this doesn't happen again."
Alessia Cara concluded her statement, mentioning:
"the industry is in a very weird place right now in many ways, so please try to have some grace for artists and their teams doing their best to navigate this new landscape. I understand if you're upset with me, and I'm so sorry. You know how excited I was to come see you and how much I LOVE Latin America. getting to play shows there has been keeping me going and I will do everything I can to get to do that as soon as I can, in whatever capacity I can. Sinto muito, lo siento mucho, TE AMO"
Alessia Cara's canceled shows included dates in Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and Mexico. These were originally scheduled for late November and early December 2025. Ticket holders are expected to be refunded. However, no rescheduled dates have been announced so far.
