Lewis Capaldi took a break from music to focus on his physical and mental health and come to grips with his Tourette Syndrome. The singer announced his break after being unable to finish his 2023 Glastonbury set. In an Instagram page post on June 27, 2023, the singer elaborated on his reasoning, stating:

"The fact that this probably won't come as a surprise doesn't make it any easier to write, but I'm very sorry to let you know I'm going to be taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future. I used to be able to enjoy every second of shows like this and I'd hoped 3 weeks away would sort me out."

The singer added:

"But the truth is I'm still learning to adjust to the impact of my Tourette's and on Saturday it became obvious that I need to spend much more time getting my mental and physical health in order, so I can keep doing everything I love for a long time to come."

Lewis Capaldi performed for the first time in two years at Glastonbury 2025. The performance was at the Pyramid Stage of the festival on June 27, 2025, and the singer played his greatest hits for the song.

Starting with Before You Go and Grace, the singer began on a strong note, with fans chanting his name and cheering him on. He then performed Hold Me While You Wait and Bruises, before making the live debut for Survive, his new song, which was released on June 26, 2025. His final two songs were Forgot Me and Someone You Loved.

The singer talked about his return to Glastonbury during the set, and what he said to his fans is quoted here as reported by Billboard on June 27, 2025:

"It’s so good to be back. I’m not gonna say much up here as I might start crying. It’s amazing to be here with you and I can’t thank you enough for coming out and seeing me. Second time’s a charm with this one, eh? It’s just a short set today and to finish what I couldn’t finish the first time."

The singer later added during his performance for Survive:

"The last three years haven’t been the best — they’ve been difficult at times. [‘Survive’] is about overcoming stuff, and this has been my f-king goal to get back here."

Lewis Capaldi later thanked his fans and the festival on the same day on another Instagram page:

Lewis Capaldi started his career in 2014 and released his first EP in 2017. The singer followed it up with two more EPs in 2018. With his second EP, Breach, the singer gained his first chart hit, charting at the 95th spot on the Canadian album chart.

The singer released his debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, on May 17, 2019. This album remains the singer's most successful album to date, with multi-platinum certifications in countries such as the UK, Australia, Norway, and more. His second album, Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent, was released in 2023.

Aside from his own solo work, Lewis Capaldi has songwriting credits for the songs Lasting Lover by DJ Sigala and James Arthur, Never Really Loved Me by Kygo, and Luv Me a Little by Illenium, among others.
