Sabrina Carpenter is indeed contemplating a no-phone policy at her concerts, and she isn't afraid to admit that it might annoy some of her fans. During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the 26-year-old pop star opened up about the love-hate affair she has with phones at her shows. While she confessed to having the urge to capture memories, she believes something far greater is lost in the process.

Sabrina Carpenter’s comments have sparked widespread discussion online, with fans debating whether phone bans would ruin or revive the live music experience. Her honest take comes at a time when more and more artists are pushing for phone-free environments, all in the hope of helping audiences stay present and actually experience the show.

Sabrina Carpenter wants fans to put their phones away

In her conversation with Rolling Stone, Sabrina Carpenter revealed that attending Silk Sonic’s show in Las Vegas, where phones were locked away, left a lasting impact on her. She stated:

“I’ve never had a better experience at a concert. “Everyone’s singing, dancing, looking at each other, and laughing. It really, really just felt so beautiful.”

That moment made her think twice about how smartphones might be impacting the energy of live performances.

While Carpenter has grown up in a time where phones are always out at concerts, she’s not entirely sold on the trend. The artist said:

“It unfortunately feels super normal to me”

She added that she understands why people want to record, stating:

“I can’t blame people for wanting to have memories.”

But the constant recording comes at a cost both for the artist on stage and for the fans themselves.

The Please Please Please singer, who is set to release her new album Man’s Best Friend in August, joked that she doesn’t want people zooming in on her face decades from now:

“Right now, my skin is soft and supple. It’s fine. Do not zoom in on me when I’m 80 years old up there.”

Fans were quick to react to her quotes online, with some supporting her vision for more present and phone-free concerts. Others weren’t so sure. Posts featuring her comments started making rounds on social media fast, with many pointing out how rare and refreshing it is to hear a mainstream artist speak so openly about something that could divide her audience.

Sabrina Carpenter isn’t alone in this. Artists like Adele, Jack White, and Madonna have already enforced no-phone policies at their concerts. Even Busta Rhymes recently called out audiences for focusing more on filming than on actually being there.

As her tour approaches, fans are now wondering: Will Sabrina Carpenter actually go through with it? For now, she hasn’t confirmed anything officially, but her words have definitely stirred a real conversation about how we experience music today.
