Australian singer, songwriter, DJ, and record producer Kevin Parker has been working on his new music for Tame Impala. Parker started the psychedelic music project almost two decades ago in 2007. The singer has released four Tame Impala studio albums so far, and has gone on four tours for each of the albums.

Kevin Parker made a surprise appearance at Primavera Sound on June 6, 2025, and also performed a DJ set at the Nitsa Club in Barcelona on June 7, 2025. Lucky Nista Club attendees were privy to Parker's latest work for Tame Impala. He asked:

"You guys want to hear a new song? You want to hear a new Tame Impala song? You're going to be the first ones to hear it, you realize? There's no going back from this point on, you realize? Alright, let’s do it; get comfortable."

The new song is different from Tame Impala's usual style, but it retains some of its original sounds. Despite the new style of music, fans could still feel and hear the ethereal psychedelic rock influences, which are synonymous with Parker's music.

Kevin Parker a.k.a. Tame Impala's music career so far

Kevin Parker started as an artist and musician two decades ago, back in 2005. The multi-talented individual is a musician, a singer, a songwriter, and a DJ. He started a band called The Dee Dee Dums in 2005 with Luke Epstein and later, Dominic Simper. Their band won second place at the AmpFest - Clash of the Bands in the same year they were formed.

The Dee Dee Dums is what started Tame Impala. In 2007, the band changed its name to what it is now. Currently, the band is signed to two music labels in the US and the UK. In the US, Tame Impala releases music under Interscope Records. While in the UK, they are under Fiction Records.

Kevin Parker revealed the reason why he creates music on his own in the studio. The singer-songwriter said:

"...he kind of music that is the result of one person constructing an awesome symphony of sound. You can layer your own voice 700 times for half a second if you want, and I just love that kind of music."

He also talked about his process of making music. He revealed:

"I'll have a sudden, spontaneous vision of a song, have all the parts mapped out in mind, and do my best to record it as quick as I can. I'll find my eight-track and do a quick demo of just the riff, or a verse or a chorus. The song will go for like 30 seconds. I'll have a whole bunch of them [demos] and then I'll just choose which ones to make into full songs."

Tame Impala has recorded four studio albums so far and has completed four tours for all the albums. The last studio album, titled The Slow Rush, was released five years ago in 2020. Their last tour for the mentioned album ended two years ago in 2023.

Tame Impala has been nominated for 83 awards in total, and they have won 39 in total. Some of these include the ARIA Music Awards, the Brit Awards, and a Grammy in 2025.

Kevin Parker surprised Barcelona fans with a new Tame Impala song. Despite the fresh sounds of the song, it still had a dreamy, psychedelic vibe that fans love.
