Fans of One Life to Live alum Tika Sumpter (ex-Layla Williamson) will be starting 2019 off in good spirits: her tense political thriller An Acceptable Loss is set to hit theaters on Friday, January 18.

Costarring Jamie Lee Curtis, the action-packed drama follows Libby Lamm (Sumpter), a former top national security adviser who, while working with a ruthless, steely-willed political veteran, signed off on a controversial military action that was supposed to end the war on terror. The problem: thousands died under false pretenses. Haunted by what she knows, Libby sets out to tell the truth, risking treason -- and her own life -- to expose a cover-up that stretches all the way to the top.

Sumpter played OLTL's Layla from 2006 to 2011 and later went on to star in TV series like Gossip Girl, The Game, and The Haves and Have Nots. She can be seen starring in David Lowery's The Old Man & the Gun opposite Robert Redford, Casey Affleck, and Sissy Spacek and will next be seen in Tyler Perry's Nobody's Fool. Sumpter recently wrapped production on Jeff Fowler's live-action/animation hybrid film Sonic the Hedgehog, starring alongside James Marsden and Jim Carrey.
