Tucker Carlson, along with Neil Patel, has launched a $1 million fundraiser to support Charlie Kirk’s family. The announcement was made on Carlson's social media post, where the American commentator revealed meeting him for the first time when Kirk was eighteen years old. The two met through Carlson's friend, Foster Friess.
Admiring Kirk, he wrote:
"He was an amazing person. It’s hard to find the right words in a moment like this or to understand exactly what’s happened. But in the meantime we want to do everything we can for Charlie’s widow Erika and their two small children. We’ve set up a GiveSendGo page on their behalf and are seeding it with $1 million from Alp Pouch."
Charlie Kirk was married to Erika Lane Frantzve at the time of his death. The couple also shared two children together, a daughter and a son.
With an initial $1 million contribution from Carlson's brand, ALP, the effort calls on others to join in supporting Charlie’s family. According to the fundraiser page for Charlie Kirk on GiveSendGo, the goal has been set at $5,000,000, and so far, it has already raised $2,185,880.
Tucker Carlson talks about Charlie Kirk on The Megyn Kelly Show
During her show on September 10, Megyn Kelly questioned Tucker Carlson about potential dangers he could face after Charlie Kirk’s assassination at the University of Utah. Answering the question, Carlson said:
"I’ve had some things happen in the last few years that I’m never gonna talk about because my family doesn’t want me to, but I’ve had cause to think about this a lot, and I really feel like it’s up to God. I really, sincerely feel that. Now I have a very big family, I’m at the head of the family, so I have concerns that extend far beyond me, and that is a subject of prayer every single day, including this morning."
According to Tucker Carlson, no one can pick the time or add to their life, since he feels it is all in God’s hands. He noted that this view sometimes keeps him from being careful, but others have still pushed him to take precautions.
Continuing his answer, he said:
"So I’m not actually worried. I’ve had a couple, several things that I consider very, very close calls over the last 20 years. So I’ve thought about it a lot, and I just feel sad for Charlie’s family. I feel sorry for Erica in a way that’s really kind of hard to express, and it’s definitely not about me."
Tucker Carlson's fundraiser announcement was also shared by Savannah Chrisley on her Instagram story.
