When Bhad Bhabie real name Danielle Bregoli dropped her new track “Honest,” it stirred more than just streaming numbers. The lyrics took aim at her father, Ira Peskowitz, accusing him of neglecting her until she found fame. That resulted in a full-on public response from him.
What followed was a back-and-forth on Instagram, allegations of paid parental-rights termination, and Ira’s claim that the song’s claims are simply not true.
Bhad Bhabie Father Fires Back at Claims in Her Song “Honest”
On “Honest,” Bhad Bhabie raps lines like
“I hope he wastes away what kind of father sacrifices a relationship for 20 K”
implying that her father only became interested in her once she blew up.
In response, Ira Peskowitz called these lyrics “a complete lie,” stating he never sold his daughter for $20K and that he tried to be part of her life long before she appeared on Dr. Phil.
The matter escalated when Bhad Bhabie posted on Instagram, claiming she
“paid 25k actually to terminate my father’s parental rights years ago. I tried to refix our [relationship] but it didn’t work. The only reason I gave him another chance was because LV suggested I have my father in my life.”
Her post included screenshots of an alleged email from her father’s attorney accepting $25K to resolve outstanding issues and end his parental rights. At the same time, Ira maintained he has documentation showing he attempted to get her into programs and that her version stems from claims made by her mother and is a case of what he calls “parental alienation.”
What’s interesting: Just last year (2024) there were reports that Bhad Bhabie and her father had been working on repairing their relationship, after years of estrangement. Yet, here we are again public accusations and counter-accusations.
Between the shocking nature of the allegations, the public figure involved, and the drama playing out across music, social media and interviews, this story naturally caught fire. The idea of a celebrity daughter accusing her father of being absent until her fame, and him vehemently denying it it checks all the “feud” boxes that the internet loves.
At the heart is a father-daughter relationship tangled in fame, music and money. She argues she paid for his rights to be terminated. He argues she got her version from someone else and that he’s tried to reconnect all along. Neither side is offering full public proof just statements and social-media posts.
Bhad Bhabie’s new song and accompanying social-media posts thrust her personal family conflict into the spotlight, using music as a megaphone. Her father has fired back, denying the claims and insisting he attempted reconciliation long before she became a public figure. With documentation, legal issues and emotional baggage all in play, the real story may be much deeper than the vocals and captions. Whether this public airing leads to healing or further fallout remains to be seen.
