Brandon Blackstock, ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson, dies at 48 following long cancer battle 

Prominent music manager Brandon Blackstock has passed away at the age of 48, according to reports. The cause of his death has been confirmed as cancer, a disease that he had been battling for the better part of the last three years. A rep of his family confirmed the news in an interview with PEOPLE, which stated as follows:

"It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time."

Brandon was married to Grammy winner Kelly Clarkson for over seven years, and they share two children. The news of Blackstock's ill health was also confirmed in a statement by Kelly, who announced her intentions to postpone her Las Vegas residency performances.

After a marriage lasting nearly seven years, the two filed for a divorce in 2020, which got finalized in 2022. "I think the thing about divorce - especially having it publicized, and people thinking they know the whole thing - the hardest part of that is, like, it wasn't an overnight decision," Clarkson later said of the split in 2023. “I wanted to make it beautiful. I wanted to make it awesome. I wanted to make it everything it possibly could be, and sometimes that just doesn’t happen."

Family sources report that Brandon was diagnosed with cancer over three years ago, but it is not known what type of cancer he was diagnosed with. He leaves behind his four children, including two whom he shares with his former marriage.
