Pedro Pascal has officially brought an end to his time with the massive hit HBO show, The Last of Us.
In clips circulating online, the actor can be seen embracing his co-stars and the film crew as they cheer for him and wave him goodbye for what is seemingly his last day on set.
While Pedro Pascal may have made a shocking return in episode six of season 2, albeit in the form of flashbacks, only time will tell how filmmakers work his character into the forthcoming season. Nonetheless, fans are thrilled, with many expressing anticipation for what is to come.
Here's what one eager fan penned on X, for instance:
"Can’t wait for season 3"
The comments didn't end there:
"As a huge fan of the games, I was very iffy of season one, and season two made me realize that this is not a very good adaptation," one sour fan opined.
"Kinda funny how the most recent episode was one of the best in the season, and it had the most of Joel in it... other than the 1st episode... which was also great," someone else chimed in.
"He did great! wouldn't be surprised to see him snag multiple awards this year," another added.
"Must be a hard moment to leave a set like that full of people you care about and work with intensely on a project," a fourth user posited.
Even more chimed in with their own opinions and remarks:
"Pedro really knows how to tee up an exit," someone quipped.
"How cute they are celebrating the moment when the season should be canceled and when its viewership dies. Sad way to go out after such a good season 1. The last season of last of us gg lmao," another opined.
"Bro took the show's viewership along with him lol," one sarcastic user penned.
"HE’S SO BABYGIRL," yet another quipped.
While scores online were excited for the forthcoming season, a large number of them expressed hesitation, citing Pedro Pascal's character, Joel's demise.
Pedro Pascal gets real about the current political climate in the U.S.: Read more
Just days ago, Pedro Pascal had some strong words to say about the current political climate in the United States. Speaking at the Cannes press conference for Ari Aster’s Eddington, he boldly declared:
“F*ck the people who try to make you scared.”
When the cast, which comprised Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, and Austin Butler, was probed about re-entering the nation after having made a contentious film, Pedro Pascal responded:
“Fear is the way that they win." “So keep telling the stories, keep expressing yourself and keep fighting to be who you are,” he continued. “F*ck the people that try to make you scared, you know? And fight back. This is the perfect way to do so in telling stories. And don’t let them win.”
Eddington premiered at the festival to a standing ovation that spanned five minutes. During the same press conference, Pedro Pascal also shared his opinions on President Trump's immigration policies:
“Obviously, it’s very scary for an actor participating in a movie to sort of speak to issues like this. It’s far too intimidating the question for me to really address, I’m not informed enough,” he said. “I want people to be safe and to be protected, and I want very much to live on the right of history. I’m an immigrant. My parents are refugees from Chile. We fled a dictatorship, and I was privileged enough to grow up in the U.S. after asylum in Denmark. If it weren’t for that, I don’t know what would have happened to us. I stand by those protections. I’m too afraid of your question, I hardly remember what it was.”
At the time of writing, further details about season 3 of The Last of Us remain unclear, though Screen Rant has reported that it will likely bear seven episodes, akin to its preceding season.
