On May 18, 2025, Joe Biden’s personal office shared that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The news came as a shock to the political community and netizens, who are now expressing their concern and offering support to the former president during this difficult time.

Amid this, an old video of Biden talking about cancer has resurfaced on social media, leading to speculation about whether he had been privately battling the disease for some time.

The clip is from a speech Biden gave at a press conference in July 2022 in Massachusetts, where he is seen talking about Delaware’s oil pollution through the statement:

"The first frost, you knew what was happening. You had to put on your windshield wipers to get, literally, the oil slick off the window. That’s why I and so damn many other people I grew up to have cancer and why can, for the longest time, Delaware had the highest cancer rate in the nation"

The statement caused confusion back then about whether he was talking about his own health.

However, the White House quickly shut down the claims by saying Biden was talking about non-melanoma skin cancer he had before becoming president, which was already made public, and the cancer claims are unrelated.

Many netizens are also sharing and discussing a comment made by Joe Biden’s brother, Frank. In an interview with CBS News in July 2024, Frank spoke openly about Joe Biden’s health by stating,

"I’m incredibly proud of my brother. Selfishly, I will have him back to enjoy whatever time we have left in our lives. He is a genuine hero. Country over self. Sounds corny in our cynical political environment, but he nor I are cynical. The goal remains the same."

After being asked if Joe Biden’s health played a role in him backing out of the presidential race, he reportedly said, "In my humble opinion, absolutely".

These comments also added to the speculation about whether Joe Biden was already aware of his health issues when he decided to step back from the presidential race. Many asked if his health was a bigger reason than what was stated before.

Later, a source close to the Biden family denied the claims made by Frank Biden, saying he struggles with alcoholism and has not spoken to Joe Biden in weeks.

As per a recent statement from Joe Biden’s office, he and his doctors are looking at treatment options.
