Trump has denied the claim, saying he isn’t involved in the decision to cancel Colbert's show. The cancellation news of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert came for the first time on July 18, when Colbert was seen saying to his live audience at New York's Ed Sullivan Theater:

"Before we start the show, I want to let you know something that I found out just last night. Next year will be our last season, and the network will be ending the late show in May."

According to the statement given by CBS executives, the decision to cancel the show was a financial decision and was:

"Not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.”

The news came shortly after Colbert spoke against CBS’s parent company, Paramount, for agreeing to pay $16 million to settle a lawsuit filed by Donald Trump over a 60 Minutes segment. While many suspected the president was behind the firing, he denied the claim, taking to his Truth Social, where he wrote:

"That is not true! The reason he was fired was a pure lack of TALENT, and the fact that this deficiency was costing CBS $50 Million Dollars a year in losses — And it was only going to get WORSE!"

Donald Trump mentions Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon in his post

While the post was about Stephen Colbert and his show, the president of the US also mentioned Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon in his Truth Social post, saying:

"Next up will be an even less talented Jimmy Kimmel, and then, a weak, and very insecure, Jimmy Fallon. The only real question is, who will go first?"

As per his Truth Social post, Colbert became a casualty of his own poor ratings, and the other two hosts will face the same fate. However, this isn't the first time he has mentioned their name. In his Truth Social post, uploaded on July 22, POTUS wrote:

"The word is, and it’s a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes and, shortly thereafter, Fallon will be gone. These are people with absolutely NO TALENT, who were paid Millions of Dollars for, in all cases, destroying what used to be GREAT Television."

After the statement, Fallon uploaded an Instagram video singing a song written for POTUS with the caption:

"Jimmy performs a song about Trump’s attempts to distract everyone from talking about the Epstein files."

Kimmel also replied to Trump's recent Truth Social post, sharing the screenshot on his Instagram with the caption:

"I know you’re busy Sharpie-ing the Epstein files, but this seems like a weird way to tell people to watch Matt Damon and Ken Jennings on an all-new Who Wants to Be a Millionaire tomorrow night at 8|7c on @ABC"
