Dawn Richard, a former member of Danity Kane, has accused Sean Combs, aka Diddy, of continuing to threaten and intimidate her even from behind bars after his arrest, according to new court documents.

The former Dirty Money member claimed in her lawsuit filed in Manhattan court on November 5 this year that Diddy threatened her life if she revealed abuse he had committed against his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. According to a report in Hot New Hip Hop, he warned her by saying that

“There will be consequences.”

He also told her that she and another woman “could go missing.”

Richard’s attorneys said that his threats continued after the rapper professionally split from Richard in 2012. The years following their split were marked by alleged harassment, physical abuse, and manipulation disguised as mentorship.

Dawn Richard’s attorney claimed that Diddy tampered with a witness

Last year, Dawn Richard’s attorney, Lisa Bloom, reportedly claimed that Diddy engaged in witness tampering. Prosecutors alleged that the raper had extensive phone contact with Kalenna Harper, Richard’s former bandmate and a witness in the case.

According to a report in the Hot New Hip Hop, the court filing read:

“[This] validated Plaintiff’s ongoing fear and demonstrated his continued efforts to intimidate her and manipulate the narrative. There is no indication that Combs’ ability or willingness to act on his threats ever ceased.”

Consequently, Diddy was denied bail for the third time by a judge in New York City. In her lawsuit filed in September last year in New York federal court, Richard accused the rapper of withholding her pay, depriving her of food, and cutting her out of music projects after she rejected his s*xual advances.

She also opened up about the abuse she witnessed as Combs allegedly assaulted Cassie Ventura. According to NPR, the complaint said:

“Over the decades following his rise to fame, Mr. Combs’ star-studded, larger-than-life persona overshadowed his vicious temper and pervasive acts of violence directed towards those in his inner circle – specifically, women.”

Reports suggested that Richard gained fame after starring in MTV’s Making the Band for three seasons. The show was managed by the rapper himself, with whom they formed a cordial relationship. She later became a part of the girl band, Dainty Kane.

Diddy, who was previously held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, has now been transferred to the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey. Here he is serving the remainder of his 50-month sentence.

Reportedly, the Bad Boy Records founder was indicted on charges of racketeering conspiracy, s*x trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. This year, a federal jury acquitted him of the racketeering and s*x trafficking charges. He was ultimately convicted only on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

BBC reported that after the verdict was announced, the record producer’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, requested that his client be released from federal custody on a 1 million bail bond while he awaits his sentencing hearing. However, his request was denied by a judge who cited that he failed to meet the burden of proving he was not a flight risk or a danger to society. Diddy is expected to be released on May 8, 2028.
