Days after Sean 'Diddy' Combs was sentenced to 50 months in prison, the music mogul reportedly wrote a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian requesting that the court recommend to the Bureau of Prisons that he be transferred to the federal correctional institution in New Jersey.
According to the documents obtained by TMZ, Sean Combs described how he believed he would be safe at the FCI Fort Dix and how it was also a good place for the Bad Boy Records founder to “address drug abuse issues" and "maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts.”
It is within Judge Arun’s power to recommend the FCI Fort Dix prison for Combs; however, the Bureau of Prisons has the final say in which prison the superstar will serve the remainder of his sentence.
More details on Sean 'Diddy' Combs' sentencing
On October 3, 2025, Sean Combs was sentenced to 50 months in prison after he was found guilty of two counts of transportation for prostitution. On July 2, 2025, the jury found Combs innocent of racketeering and two counts of sexual trafficking charges. After his sentencing, Judge Arun urged the rapper to make use of his second chance and turn a new leaf.
“Being a champion and uplifting Black and brown communities — that’s what you set out to do at the beginning of your career decades ago. Your letter said you lost your way, but there’s a true path to redemption here: What went wrong and what can be made right.”
The judge also commended the rapper’s victims and key witnesses of the case, Jane and Cassie Ventura.
“Jane and Cassie Ventura have been through abuse and trauma we couldn’t imagine. I can only say your families are proud of you, and your children will be proud of you for coming to the court to tell what really happened. You weren’t just talking to the jury, you were talking to the women who feel powerless.”
On Monday, October 6, President Donald Trump revealed, while addressing reporters in the Oval Office, that Puff Daddy asked him for a presidential pardon. The president didn't state whether he would consider the request or reject it.
Diddy has served fourteen months of his prison sentence. He is expected to be released in December 2028, accounting for time served.
